Chiefs: Super Wildcard Weekend Outcomes

Laddie Morse

The AFC results were not surprising to me with the Dolphins giving the Bills a run for their money, 34-to-31, and the Chargers nearly taking down the Jags by the score of 31-to-30. Both AFC Home team came out on top, but the same could not be said for the NFC Vikings who lost on their Home field by the score of 31-to-24.

Tonight, on Monday Night Football, the 12-and-5 Cowboys are visiting the 8-and-9 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. From sportsbetmgm.com comes this:

.

“…  the Cowboys will win this NFC Wild

Card game with 64.0% confidence.”

I’m not so sure what makes this weekend a “Super” Wildcard Weekend, because the games haven’t really been Super at all. Here are the two (2) possible brackets based on tonight’s outcome between the Ravens and the Bengals:

.

.

.

On the other hand, if the Ravens can pull one out over the Bengals (see below for that bracket) in Cincinnati, this will be the Brackets with the major difference being who the Chiefs will play (the Ravens instead of the Jags:

The other major difference you may have noticed is, no matter who wins Monday Night’s game between the Cowboys and the Bucs, one of those teams will travel next weekend to San Francisco to take on the 49ers. The only real difference between these two brackets is the winner of the Bengals/Ravens game, which will be decided long after the time I hit the hay.

Enjoy!

Late Update: The Bengals beat the Ravens 24-to-17. The deciding play came when the Ravens QB Tyler Huntley was trying to stretch the ball out over the goal line, but couldn’t quite get it there. So, the Bengals slapped the ball out of his hand and Sam Hubbard recovered the ball and ran it 98 yards — yes, that’s a playoff record now — for a go ahead TD. Also, that score stood up the rest of the way. The two Charts above explain who will be the Chiefs opponent next weekend, and it’s graphic #1 that tells the story (re-listed below):

BTW, I know were all devoted to the preciousness of Damar Hamlin’s life, and very happy he’s on the upward mend, but I don’t understand why the Chiefs have lost the opportunity to Host the AFC Championship game at Arrowhead Stadium? The Chiefs did nothing to warrant that outcome. Can someone explain that to me please?

Also, the Chiefs will host the Jags this coming Saturday afternoon on NBC.

I feel the same way Kylie does. How about you?

Brooke Pryor and Seth Walder wrote a piece for ESPN about the coming game between the Chiefs and Jags and here’s part of what they had to say:

.

Why the Chiefs will win: … Over the course of the regular season, the Chiefs had the most efficient offense in football, and it wasn’t even close (0.17 expected points added per play, with the Bills next at 0.12). The offensive line deserves credit for that number too. … Chris Jones has had a magnificent season. His 79 pass rush wins were 26 more than any other defensive tackle. But this defense overall is simply average. And that’s all it needs to be most weeks. Offense is key to championships, and the Chiefs have the better one in this game. Yes, Lawrence has had a nice season, and he was sensational in the second half of Saturday’s comeback against the Chargers. But let’s be real: Lawrence isn’t on Mahomes’ level, at least not right now.”
