Chiefs Takes: 1 Can’t Even, 1 Clap Back, 1 Salty, 1 Fire, & What Makes Laddie Happy! – It’s time to tap into the millennial mindset, even though I know not of this generation. At least I try to bridge the gap. You could call this my gap trap game I guess. Let’s give it a shot anyway!
I CAN’T EVEN – The world is insane so, I can’t even…
Let me start with Andrew Wylie saying, “We took the fight to them for sure” referring to the Saints DL. My response to that? What the “H” “E” Double hockey sticks are you talking about? On Sunday, the Saints had 11 QB Hits, 8 Tackles for a Loss, and 4 Sacks of Patrick Mahomes. We almost had to piece Humpty Dumpty (Mahomes) together again in the locker room. Are you kidding me? I can’t even… I don’t even… I shouldn’t even… say anything… But all I can say to that is: bullpucky!
I don’t mind a positive spin here and there, but when you come right out and feed us a plate of donkeydung and call it steak, something’s gone terribly wrong in Denmark… and how it traveled all the way from New Orleans around the world, clear to Denmark, is beyond me. I can’t even….
Wylie’s claim is that since the OL helped them run for 170+ yards then, “We took the fight to them.” I know most Offensive Linemen prefer to fire straight out and hit the DL instead of backing up and allowing them to hit you, so running the ball successfully was important to this win. However, I can’t even… describe how scary and frustrating it was to watch the face of the Chiefs and the NFL, Patrick Mahomes, running for his life, play after play after play. Someone needs to grow a pair and learn the nuances of pass protection. Dig in, entrench, and be a man and protect, “The Man!” Period!
I can’t even!!!!
CLAP BACK – hitting back when you’ve been hit, verbally!
I’ve been challenged with the question, so it’s time to clap back.
While I can’t even imagine what it must be like to actually play against the best to ever pull on a jersey, it has to feel something like that. Oh, the futility. Oh, what an endless exercise and angst filled endeavor. Oh the hysterically hopeless humanity. Yes, the broken hearts. Mr. Keysor, even posing such a question is far beyond my paygrade, but suffice it to say, I’m just glad that Jon Gruden and his Raiders know the feeling, up close and personally, a multiplicity times.
Clapping Back… has nothing to do with applause!
SALTY – a tough, aggressive response
To quote the Rolling Stones: “I can’t get no, satisfaction!” Expressing a similar grumpy attitude… should be easy after rookie Linebacker, Willie Gay, played minimal snaps again on Sunday (12), but, it’s just made me more Salty than ever. To really capture this Salty mood, two words come mind: Demarcus Robinson. Enough said!
Along with every other Chiefs fan who’s wondering when DRob will learn to not run backwards… we’re all salty on this one!
Signed – One Salty Dawg!
FIRE – Not fired up, just simply: fire
I have FIRE for L’Jarius Sneed. He’s playing so well in this his rookie season, that more credit must be heaped upon Brett Veach. Sneed was a fourth round pick and has 3 INTs this year and he added a sack to his totals on Sunday versus Drew Brees and the Saints.
Plus, Sneed’s 4.38, 40-yard dash, makes him one of the fastest players on the Chiefs roster, and that’s saying a mouthful.
The FIRE here though, is for Brett Veach. He not only has pegged Sneed, but signed DT Tershawn Wharton, a UDFA who is having a wonderful rookie year himself! Two Sacks, 14 Tackles, and 3 QB Hits and all of that is coming on rotational snaps (29 snaps vs the Saints). Here’s Wharton against the Dolphins:
From, getting Patrick Mahomes tape in front of Andy Reid and hounding him about it… to fashioning the trade for Frank Clark… to fixing the Chiefs Safety position in the 2019 offseason, plus Brett Veach has been masterful at manipulating the cap and returning as many players to the Chiefs roster from last season’s championship team as possible, and he deserves tons of kudos for it!
Veach has made the draft a delight to watch for Kansas City Chiefs fans. Especially those of us wanting to see the Chiefs not only #runitback… but sustain a dynasty for the next decade and beyond. Now, let’s see if he can fix the OL this offseason… because who wants to see this (below) ever again:
To quote the Pointer Sisters, “Burn me up with fire!”
What Make Me Happy is…
The Mecole Hardman catch at the back of the endzone when both he and Mahomes were running out of real estate:
Yes, that video is only one second long because that’s all it took. That the city of Kansas City has the most important player at the most important position in all of sports on this team… and that K.C. has a great relationship with the best player of in all of sports in all of the world.
The “C” next to the Bills and even more so, the “E” (for ELIMINATED) next to NE (New England). The Patriots are not making the playoffs for only the second time since 2002. The Football Gods have spoken… after hearing two decades of prayers… if you believe in that kind of thingy. In any case… I be Happy!
What makes me the happiest is… 13-and-1.
To quote Pharrell Williams, “Because I’m Happy!”
Do you have any takes that are: “I Can’t Even,” or “A Clap Back,” or “Salty,” filled with “Fire,” or just plain Happy?
