Every year fans wonder how their team will fill the holes on the roster. Sometimes it take the GM swinging for the fences –> think Hollywood Brown. While, other times the moves a GM makes aren’t so very adept… like taking a RB (such as CEH) in the first round. This year, we’ve still got holes in the roster, and they could also be called: The Weakest Links.

The problem here isn’t so much Joshua Williams as it is the guy he’s replacing. Namely, L’Jarius Sneed. One problem is, Williams was a 4th round pick just like Sneed (2020) was only two years later (2022). Part of the solution maybe rotating in CB Jaylen Watson, he was a draft pick the same year as Williams, only a 7th rounder.

You may want to MUTE before watching the next video.

Nnadi plays next to Chris Jones and while that benefits Nnadi, it doesn’t necessarily benefit Jones. The Chiefs have been searching for the next great DT and have tried their fair share of talents there including: Mike Pennel, Tershawn Wharton, Isaiah Buggs (thank goodness he’s gone), Fabien Lovett Sr., Matt Dickerson, and most recently, Alex Gubner. All are part time solutions at best.

To some, it may seem like I’m picking on him. However, I don’t believe I’ve written a bad word about him (check me on that). The real problem is that the Chiefs haven’t signed a better second RB up until now which means CEH is a weak link. If the Chiefs starter — Isiah Pacheco — goes down or has to sit at all — knock on wood — the offense is going to suffer with CEH at RB.

If we could get the early year one version of CEH back (see below), then all’s well. We just haven’t seen him since then and that’s exactly the reason K.C. didn’t re-sign him to a 5th year option:

Louis Rees-Zammit may end up helping the Chiefs but that fact that he has zero NFL experience makes him a question mark as much as an answer.

The last Weakest Link I will share with you is a position, not a player. If Wanya Morris or Kingsley Suamataia don’t win this position outright in Training Camp, then the Chiefs have a problem. I like David Bell’s possible solutions which he mentioned in his article called: “Dead Spot Foul! The OL Between Now and Training Camp” where he names David Bakhtiari as a possible replacement at LT or maybe even bringing back Donovan Smith for one year. Either way, I see the LT position as a Weakest Link.

While all the OL positions are important — Super Bowl LV result of 31-9 is the truest testament — it’s the LT position that remains crucial to the protection of QB Supreme, Patrick Mahomes.

What do you think? Do you see any holes on the Chiefs roster that must be filled?
