Hollywood Brown
An article was written by Jordan Foote for SportsIllustrated.com called, “Report Adds Unfortunate Context to Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown Return Timeline” in which he quotes Adam Schefter:
.
“Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise
‘Hollywood’ Brown, who was put on injured reserve
Friday because of a shoulder injury that requires
surgery, is not expected to play in the regular season,
sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter,” the story
began. “There still was a chance Brown could return
for the postseason, but he was not expected back
any sooner than mid-January.”
.
Many are aware that Brown was injured on the first play of the preseason on Saturday, August 10. Hollywood had surgery on Monday September 16. It was first thought that He might return in four week, much the way Tyreek Hill did with a similar injury. HOwever, Brown needed surgery in the ned and he has a recovery period.
Both David Bell and I think it takes a full year to recover from any injury and that means 2026 before Hollywood regains his full capacity as a top tier WR. For a player who relies upon cutting and shifting this is critical. We can speculate all we want about his possibly returning this season, but if he does, I have my serious doubt about him adding any thing significant to this offense.
.
Charles Omenihu
Things may be different for DE Charles Omenihu. IOW, he may not need a whole year to recover like a WR does. Omenihu has kept us fans up on his recovery and here’s his latest:
.
.
You may recall that Omenihu was injured in the AFC Championship game vs the Ravens in Baltimore. He didn;t get to play in the super Bowl but he sure wanted to. After all, he helped K.C. get there… for sure (0:43).
.
.
Omenihu has kept Chiefs Kingdom up to date with his workouts. Here he is just three months after his surgery. This is in April (0:21):
.
.
Isiah Pacheco
The Chiefs RB, Isiah Pacheco had a knee injury — fractured right fibula — in the week two game against the Bengals. Pop (his nickname) is known as a hard runner and it took some time but his replacement, Kareem Hunt got up to speed in the week five game against the Saints. In a CBS Sports article published on September 20 HC Andy Reid was quoted as saying:
.
“I can’t give you a time when he’ll return.
We’ll just see if it’s this season or next season.”
.
A week later, in a media session, a reporter was asking Reid about the time Terrell Owens played in the Super Bowl just a few weeks after a similar injury and Reid said (1:30):
.
.
Although Reid made the connection between Isiah Pacheco and Terrell Owens, we’ll have to wait and see if he comes back that quickly. John Dixon at ArrowheadPride made the comment that Rashee Rice’s comeback date would but ultimately up to Andy Reid.
.
Rashee Rice
As mentioned above, John Dixon has an article for ArrowheadPride called. “Andy Reid has final word on Rashee Rice’s injury and potential timeline” in which he quotes Andy Reid on the comparison to Rice’s injury to his LCL and the ACL:
.
“It was [to the] posterolateral corner; there was
damage there,” explained Reid. “It’s probably the
same result, though, as you get time-wise for an
ACL. It takes a while for that to come back. He’ll get
into his rehab and get rolling on that as we go here.”
.
.
.
B.J. Thompson
Thompson had a seizure (cardiac arrest) during a team meeting in early June. Although he played in just one game (with two tackles) in the 2023 season, the Chiefs are still hopeful he’ll be able to play in 2024. B.J. is on the NFI (non-football injury) list, but can come off any time now.
.
.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire
CEH has had issues with vomiting related to a case of the PTSDs (Post-traumatic stress disorder). In an article by ESPN on Helaire’s condition, they quote him as saying:
.
“Sometimes I’m admitted into the hospital, something
like I can’t stop throwing up and it’s just, I [don’t]
know [anything] pretty much to stop it.”
.
Reid addressed the situation with CEH just today (yesterday) and said:

What do you think?
