Chiefs: Top 10 Changes in the 2024 Season

The changes to the Super Bowl winning team are abundant. Even after winnign it all for the second straight year in a row, the team’s leadership saw fit to make some necessary changes. He they are.

Special Teams coach, Dave Toub, has taken the forefront on who will be doing the kicking and who will be doing the returning. Aside from the muffed kickoff by Mecole Hardman, the Chiefs have made adjustments already and look to be one-up on most teams.

With the Behind-the-back Pass last Saturday, Patrick Mahomes has shown he’ll still be the Magic Man of the NFL.

Ron Kopp of ArrowheadPride has an article called, “Andy Reid says Chiefs’ second cornerback position ‘might be a committee’” which outlines the possibility that K.C. will take a multiple CBs approach to replacing Sneed. Kopp quotes Reid, who goes on to say:

“We got some guys that can play. We need to see

Jaylen get out there; if he can play, then he’ll play and

see where he’s at. Some of those other guys have grown

and shown some good stuff. We’ll just see how it goes.”

Actually, Kadarius Toney has had a bad preseason overall… with the Chiefs. This is likely the last we’ll see of Kadarius Toney, no matter how much the coaches try to hype him. It should be noted that KT has had health problems which has kept him from performing up to his abilities. The old saying applies here: the best ability is availability.

Rashee Rice has had a tumultuous offseason. Mark Powell of Fansided wrote a piece called, “New Rashee Rice training camp development makes looming Chiefs suspension even worse” in which he says:

“Rice faces felony charges from a street-racing incident

in March that left several people injured. The NFL

recently released a statement on Rice’s pending

suspension, saying they “have been monitoring

developments in the matter” and that “following the

conclusion of the legal process, the NFL will review

the matter under the Personal Conduct Policy.”

Powell goes on to quote WR Justin Watson, who says:

“To see him go from where he was at the end of last

year and take a massive step to where he’s at now

has been cool to see. I think he’s gonna be a great

leader for our room this year, on and off the field.”

Off the field? Hmmm….

The ChIefs have never had such lofty goals as they’ve had this offseason. It’s crazy to think our Chiefs have won back-to-back Super Bowls and now… they are talking about a three-peat. The “beloved” Bill Belichick addresses the possibilities of the Chiefs casing down a three-peat:

I once wrote a piece called, “What it Will Take to Three-peat” in which I said:

“No one knows for sure how the 2024 season will

turn out, but one thing is for sure, the Kansas City

Chiefs will make it interesting. Interesting because

they’ve undergone quite a few changes since they

last won their back-to-back Lombardi Trophies this

past February.”

The Kansas City Chiefs have won so much recently, that somehow, some way… they have become Villains. From an article called, “Breaking a Curse or Hex” comes this suggestion for how to break a curse (which, I’m not so sure the Chiefs are, but anyway…):

“Blogger and author Tess Whitehurst offers some 

suggestions. She recommends cutting a lemon in

half and sprinkling the top of each half with sea

salt on the morning of a full moon….”

The Chiefs and the rest of the NFL are/is only 6 days away from making one huge cut down day. The day when hundreds of football players’ who’s dream of making a NFL roster comes to an end. I call it the day of Alchemy:

I guess we know why players come to sign with the Chiefs… it’s sure not because of the facility or any reason like that. Patrick Mahomes doesn’t get enough credit for drawing excellent players to K.C.. That’s an odd sentence to type because PM gets so much credit for everything else that leads to the team’s success. With the recent revelations of the NFLPA’a report that had Clark Hunt receiving an “F” grade, the lowest among all owners on the Chiefs facilities and work environment. However, Clark knows where his bread is really buttered and has taken this offseason to correct a major fly in his team’s soup: salaries for non-players. Here’s some of the signings Clark Hunt made this offseason:

Aside from re-signing HC Andy Reid, GM Brett Veach and President Mark Donovan, Hunt also re-signed DC Steve Spagnuolo.

Clark Hunt also had Super Bowl rings made for everyone in the organization. Indeed he does know where his bread is buttered. The newest version of the ring is mammoth:

I had to add an extra number for this. I was just out driving around, running some errands and listening to 610 Radio. Carrington Harrison said he heard Special Teams Coach, Dave Toub, say he would be pounding the table for Nikko Remigio to make the team as a kick returner/WR. Does that mean Nikko is for sure going to make the final 53? I have no clue… except… this is a pretty darn good clue.
