Chiefs: Top 10 Differences in the 2024 Season

Laddie Morse

There have been plenty of changes in these 2024 Kansas City Chiefs and the 2024 offseason tells the tale. Let’s see what some of those differences are.

The Chiefs signed former Rugby star Louis Rees-Zammit who has 4.43 speed, but claims he runs faster than that (24.2 MPH). It’s my opinion that Rees-Zammit ends up on the Chiefs Practice Squad this year.

Since the NFl Owners decided to change he kick off rule, Special Teams coach Dave Toub has taken the forefront on who will be doing the kicking and who will be doing the returning. Toub also serves as the Chiefs assistant Head Coach.

Travis Kelce has grown in popularity. Not only did he star on Saturday Night Live this last year but his podcast with his brother has taken off not to mention he signed a new two year deal. With his brother Jason — with the Philadelphia Eagles — retiring, there has been more speculation of Travis retiring. Not to worry, he says he’s in for two more years. At least. With the drafting of TE Jared Wiley, Kelce’s career may expand. One big question that has arisen this offseason is: will Travis lateral the ball to a team mate successfully this coming season???

Initially, when K.C. signed Carson Wentz to be their backup QB, I thought they’d made a mistake. Upon further review, it could end up being a great move. Not only for Wentz but for the Chiefs team and ultimately for fans.

This has nothing to do with Hardman catching the winning catch in the Super Bowl. There are a host of reasons why bringing back Mecole Hardman was a good idea. Check out my piece from Friday called: Chiefs: “Heee’s BaaAAACK, What it Means

The Chiefs re-signed several of their coaches this offseason including Head Coach Andy Reid to a $100M dollar deal. With this deal with Reid means he become the highest paid HC in the NFL. Also, the Chiefs respected DC Steve Spagnuolo by re-signing him to a new contract the day after their most recent Super Bowl victory. Spags is now the only Coach or coordinator who has four Super Bowl Rings. K.C. also re-signed President Mark Donovan and GM Brett Veach to new deals. Looks like Clark Hunt actually knows which side his bread is buttered on.

The Chiefs 2024 schedule has them playing games on 6 different days of he week. Andy Reid sasy he doesn’t care he’ll play anyone, anytime, anywhere. However, the schedule with the Chiefs playing on 6 different days hasn’t been done in about a hundred years.

It’s still hard to believe that the Chiefs traded with the Bills — of all teams — going form the 32nd pick in the 2024 draft up to the 28th pick to select the player they were targeting: Xavier Worthy. The trade looked like this:

The Bills then traded out of the 32nd spot with the Panthers to get their 33rd pick (the first pick on Day 2 of the draft) and they selected WR Keon Coleman who runs a 4.61. We’ll all be keeping our eyes on Coleman and Worthy as this season progresses.

The Chiefs are going to miss L’Jarius Sneed… the Chiefs are not going to miss L’Jarius Sneed. Those two positions have taken up a lot of space online this offseason. It’s either an opportunity for some other DBs or LJ can be replaced. I’m more of the opinioij that Sneed can’t be replaced but that’s just me. Te time he punched the ball out of Zay Flowers hands just before Flowers reached he end zone is a play that sticks in my mind as being one that no other player could ever make. Perhaps that’s an over-simplification… but maybe not.

It’s well known now that Marquise Hollywood Brown is playing for the Kansas City Chiefs this year. I’m hoping that GM Brett Veach can offer him a deal by mid-season that will keep him in K.C. for a multi-year deal. Brown has already had an impact on the team. He’s not only been to Texas to workout with Patick Mahomes, but he’s been in K.C. including having a workshop for challenged youth. BTW, Hollywood says he’s faster than Xavier Worthy who set a combine record with a 4.21 40 yard dash. Here’s Brown:

NFL players are often boosting of their own speed and strength. I don’t think it’s that important to know who is faster… when you run a 4.27 40 yard dash… you might just be the fastest player on the team. But, who really cares! We just want to see touchdowns!
