Chiefs Training Camp Day 11:
OPEN THREAD
by Laddie Morse
Tomorrow, Tomorrow, I Love Ya…
… the day after tomorrow. Hehe. It’s hard to believe that this is the last that the Kansas City Chiefs will practice before the games begin. Sure, it’s “only” a preseason game but it’s real, live Chiefs football we’re talking about and I couldn’t be more excited… except that time my parents got be that red bicycle for me for Christmas.
Patty-Takes: “Write on the board 100 times…”
Repeat after me, “Patrick Mahomes will be fine, Patrick Mahomes will be fine, Patrick Mahomes….”
Aaron Rodgers intercepted again by Ha Ha Clinton-Dix during a team period. This is Rodgers’ second practice with three interceptions. He’s been picked seven times. #Packers

Now, take a deep breath and then re-read the above tweet again.
Apparently some Chief fans are super-freaking out over the number of picks that our beloved new savior is throwing from his perch atop Mt. Olympus. Yes, we have deified him before he has done a dad blamed thing. We have gone crazy. Absolutely cray-cray. Did you know that Len Dawson started a total of two games in his first five seasons? In other words, he averaged 0.4 starts per year in his first 5 years. He also threw 5 INTs in his first five years. When you look at it that way, it’s a bit surprising that Hank Stram ever took a chance on him. Sure, Dawson played in more games than 2 during that time, but we’ve really got our priorities out of whack. At least a little, right? There’s a good chance that the Chiefs new signal caller will not excel in year one and I hope Chiefs fans are ready for that possibility too.
Once again…repeat after me, “Patrick Mahomes will be fine, Patrick Mahomes will be fine, Patrick Mahomes….” Still… if you like pretty pictures take a look at this one:

Dandy Duel of the Day
Here we have Byron Pringle vs. Robert Golden with Chase Litton serving the spiral salad.
Chase Litton to Byron Pringle, who did a nice job of coming back to the ball. #ChiefsCamp

I’m rooting for Chase Litton to be the 3rd QB kept in September.
Special Teams Gets Special-er
At the beginning of the 2017 season the Chiefs had Tyreek Hill as a returner, Dustin Colquitt as the punter and Cairo Santos as the kicker. Now, replace Santos with Harrison Butker and the Special Teams has taken a turn for the better. Why? Because Butker is better than Santos… Hill is improved and Kerwynn William and rookie Tremon Smith join him which is an upgrade… and Dustin Colquitt is better than ever. With the speedy Demarcus Robinson and Tremon Smith stepping in as gunners, this year’s Special Teams may end up the best in the NFL. Now, that’s pretty special.
My Way or the Eligwe
Ukeme Eligwe talked to the media and shared his feelings on protesting. While the anthem protests are a weary topic to many, it is a matter of life and death to others. Eligwe said he spoke with Clark Hunt and will do whatever Hunt decides the Kansas City Chiefs rules will be concerning the anthem:
“We got new league rules that just happened this offseason. Each team has their own rules. I spoke to Clark Hunt. We have rules, and I’ll be abiding by whatever those rules are.”
More Helmet Walking
There may not be a Chiefs tradition that touches my heart more than the Helmet Walk. Kids getting the opportunity to carry a players helmet all the up the hill and into the locker room while chatting with the players can only mean good and positive things for our youth.

I prefer the Helmet Walks when we can hear the conversations the kids are having with the players but this one touches me because a little girl is also involved as one of the participants. Having raised a daughter, I have long been a proponent of empowering girls and women. Go Chiefs! Go Chiefs! Go Chiefs!
Tyreek “Benny” Hill
I have to include this one because it makes me laugh every time I see it. There is another view of Hill at the end of this hitting the crossbar twice but it’s great to see it from another angle.
