Chiefs: ‘Twas the Night Before… OMG!

Chiefs: ‘Twas the Night Before… OMG!

Laddie Morse

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all around Arrowhead,

Not a creature was stirring, except, of course, Big Red,

The game plan was complete, all the plays, plus some spares,

In hopes that the Bye Week soon would be theirs,

The players were all home, and snug with their kin,

Having visions of trick plays, and Patrick producing wins.

When out in the hallway, there arose such a clatter,

When Reid sprang – well, got up slowly – from his desk, to see what’s the matter?

Away to Veach’ office, he flew — sauntered — so brisk,

Tore open his door, but nearly slipped a disk,

The room gave a gloom too the shock of his gaze,

Gave a fluorescent sheen, to what would amaze,

When what to his eyes he could never believe,

Sat a QB, who could only leave him to grieve,

Reid ran back to his cubby, to search for some whisky,

Never, no never, would he have drafted Mitch Trubisky!

Yet, there the chap sat, like a stiff little elf,

“I shouldn’t have had brats” Reid thought to himself,

That can’t be my QB, so he went to check again,

When he did, Mitch was gone: DeShone Kizer was in!

“Go Kizer, Go Trubisky, and yes, Watson, even,”

“Give me back my Mahomie, The One and Only, I believe in,”

“No Baker, No Allen, No Ben, Cam, nor Jackson,”

“Give me back my Patty, and his assault weapon arm action,”

To the top of the drum deck, at the top of his voice,

“Get out, and stay out, you were never my choice!”

Then Reid looked in the mirror, a right jolly old elf,

“Back to a Cheeseburger Diet”… he cracked to himself,

Then he thought, “Ghost of Christmas Future” maybe paying a visit?

Resolved: “I must make amends, at least make a pivot,”

With the wink of his eye and a twist of his pelvis,

Suddenly appeared Travis Kelce, all dressed up like Elvis,

Kelce crooned Blue Christmas, and simultaneously Silent Night,

Big Red at first liked it, then he got quite a fright,

He said, “Tell me Elvis Kelce, why now, why here?”

“To sing White Christmas. To bring good cheer.”

Finally Reid rubbed his eyes hard, and awoke from his nap,

Reached up on his head, as if there’d be a cap,

He spoke not a word, and then picked up his keys,

Headed out the door, but that dream made him freeze,

Thought back to his nap… or what he might have eaten,

Shrugged, “One loss ain’t so bad, and we’re darn near unbeaten,”

I heard him exclaim, as he drove off in his sleigh, er… truck,

“Happy Christmas, and to the rest (with sarcasm): Good Luck!
