Chiefs WRs: How low can you go? We’re not talking about playing a game of limbo at the Y here. We’re talking about the available WRs for the Chiefs this coming Monday in San Francisco. With limbo, you want to go low… with the Chiefs available WRs, not so much. Sure, our QB, Patrick Mahomes has been known to turn water into wine… er, a group of lowly WRs into the league’s best, but there has to be a turning point at some point. Right?
On Thursday, the Chiefs leading WR from the last game, JuJu Smith-Schuster (130 yards vs the Saints), was not a participant. Reid’s rule is… if you don’t practice on a Friday, you don’t play in the game the following weekend.
.
.
KCTV5 reprted this just yesterday:
.
“The already depleted Kansas City Chiefs receiving
core took another hit Thursday with wide receiver Juju
Smith-Schuster being added to the injury report ahead
of Sunday’s Super Bowl rematch. Smith-Schuster was
listed as a limited participant in Thursday’s practice
due to a hamstring injury.”
.
So, we’ll have to see if JuJu can practice today (Friday).
.
Nagy on JuJu
Offensive Coordinator, Matt Nagy, said this yesterday around 3:30 in the afternoon:

.
Wideouts Left
Here is a list of WRs on the Chiefs Roster who might take JuJu’s place… who was trying to take Rashee Rice’s place, and with Hollywood Brow out for the season:
.
.
It doesn’t look good for the Chiefs WR room right now. That’s why we’ve heard so many rumors of a possible trade for a WR:
.
“4 receivers the Kansas City Chiefs need to trade for to combat Bills with Amari Cooper” and these include:
.
.
In a podcast piece called, “PANIC MODE? SHOCKING Kansas City Chiefs Rumors After Amari Cooper Trade To Buffalo Bills” by Chiefs Report by Chat Sports they offer these possible WR trade options:
.
.
SportsIllustraded.com has a piece by Jordan Foote called, “Chiefs Aggressiveness in Pursuit of WR Trade,” in which he additionally talks about the cap situation for K.C. while pondering a trade for DeAnthony Hopkins from Tennessee:
..
“The champs’ salary cap situation is another potential
obstacle. Currently estimated to have just over $4
million to work with, fitting in a high-level playmaker is
much easier said than done. A combination of base
salary ($8.27M) and per-game roster bonuses ($1.02M)
makes a Hopkins acquisition tricky, even with those figures
being deflated now that the season is rolling.”
.
Returning to the original question… How Low Can You Go in a game with the receivers you have in house? We’re about to find out. Could K.C. bring Nikki Remigio up off the Practice Squad, or do the same with Justin Ross? It’s certainly a possibility and if they do were likely to find out just how well they can get open for Patrick Mahomes either on his initial read or with time to roam the neighborhood.

Additional Player Missing on the Injury Report
DE Mike Danna won’t be playing in this game.
