Enough is Enough: the Chiefs Are Winning the Super Bowl This Year

Enough is Enough: the Chiefs Are Winning the Super Bowl This Year – the Kansas City Chiefs lose 35 to 32 to the Tennessee Titans, in a funky game, on both sides… and I am tired of it. I am tired of losing games when favored. I am tired of losing games at home. I tired of losing funky games filled with unbelievable circumstances.

As Chiefs fans, we are all tired.

So, Get A Life

Well congratulations. That is life. Football teams lose games: if not, the best record in the NFL would be 0-0-16 for all teams. Have fun figuring the tie breaker!

If you are upset about another Chiefs loss, tell your sob story to the man who had his entire family (wife and 6 kids) swept away in a flash flood (he escaped). Or the family whose son had his face blown off in Afghanistan and dead at 19. Not good enough? How about the lady who battled lupus for 30 years, beat the disease, then died at 50 from a common cold after spending the day at the zoo with nieces and nephews. Or the father who joined the Navy, decommissioned 2 ships after WW2, then died at 66, from mesothelioma (asbestos cancer).

Want to send condolences? I will send you their addresses, because I knew each personally.

Maintaining a Perspective

Harsh? Yes, because I am tired. I am tired of whining after Chiefs losses… and wins for that matter. Sports are entertainment. We should remember that on Veteran’s Day weekend. Too many men (women and children) have died defending our country (and many others defending their own country), and far too many innocents, simply in the wrong place at the wrong time in history.

I am tired most of the negativity surrounding Chiefs Kingdom. I have read postings that suggest “I did not think we would go 16-0 but….” There is no but, the contradiction is already in play.

Firing Andy Reid?

Give me a break. Think about what you just said. Now think about the coaches, not named Belichick, that you would hire from another team………….. waiting………… waiting………… still waiting. My point exactly.

But, but, but… sorry, no buts. Andy does not punt, pass, and kick (he did that already back in 1971– pun intended) block, snap, catch, tackle, or all the other activities that a player does on the field. Andy calls plays but does not execute the play. Players do. Only 1 coach in NFL history ever executed his team, when John McKay had his entire Buc’s team executed (only old guys will remember that quote).

Okay, for the younger guys: the early day Bucs stunk… and that is being polite. After a particular horrendous loss, a reporter asked McKay about his team’s execution. He replied, “I am all for it.”

Fire Andy. Get over it. We have the best possible head coach. Look at other teams, their front offices, their organizations. Do you really want to be them? Ponies, Jets, Bengals, Fins, Browns, Giants, Cards, etc. Should I continue?

Andy wins more games he should lose… than he loses games he should win.

How About: Fire Veach, Toub, Spags

See above commentary regarding Andy. Spags is new. Toub is the best ST coach in NFL. Did you think the huge 2 year turnover in the roster would NOT affect special teams? Veach is pulling rabbits out of a hat. We have a winning record despite a plethora of injuries, and talented beyond measure from 1 to 53.

Oh and There’s: Cut Fisher

Great idea! We have seen what life without Fisher looks like. You can’t cut a player (Wilson, Zombo, Stephenson, Sorenson) unless you have a replacement who is BETTER… and I wanted all 4 cut. Left OTs do not grow on trees. Look across the league.

Bench Mahomes???

Really?

BooHoo… “We can’t stop the run”

Despite Henry running for 600 yards, he did not beat us. In fact, he was not on the field during the Titans last drive, until the 2 PAT conversion. Mack did not beat us either.

Cut or Fire __________ (fill in the blank)

Butker, Winchester, Hill, Watkins, McCoy, Colquitt, Erving, Reiter, LDT, Clark… every LB… Breeland, and/or Ward. Cut them all.

Do you realize every Chiefs player has been bashed this year? Even those on IR have been attacked. For what purpose?

Sow and Reap

“You reap what you sow.” It’s a general principle.

It’s in the Bible (and other good books). It’s in Think and Grow Rich. It’s a Natural Law operating throughout the Universe. Chiefs Kingdom is negatively infected with reaping and sowing too. Meaning, “If you think negatively… you will get negativity.” Think Fisher sucks… Fisher gets hurt. Think Andy can’t call plays… Andy calls a play you hate. Get the drift?

Think about your own life. Maybe you could have a better attitude and think more positively. I know I could have, and I made a conscious decision to focus on positivity this year, next year, and the rest of my life. In all areas of my life.

Negative thinking kills creativity, wrecks marriages and relationships, ruins kids, destroys confidence, and leads to discouragement, despair, depression, disease and death. You get the idea.

Thinking Positively

There should only be one thought about the Chiefs: the Chiefs are winning the Super Bowl this year. Think it. Believe it. Dream it. Eat it. Talk it. Watch it. That is positive. That is hopeful. That is productive and creative. That is life!

In my personal opinion, like it or not, if you can’t be positive about the Chiefs, then please, I beg you to choose another team… and do it quickly. Call me a homer, idealist, nut job, or whatever: I don’t care. I am remaining positive, no matter how tired I am.

Remember Tom Landry

Landry is my favorite coach of all-time. Landry was winless his first year, and took 7 years to produce a winning record (6 to hit .500). After going 7 and 7, he had 20 consecutive winning seasons, winning 250 regular season games. He won 2 Super Bowls, 5 NFC Championship Games, and 18 of 20 years in the playoffs. He was also a B-17 pilot shot down over Europe… but better yet, he was a great man!

If the Cowboys had beaten the Packers in those two championship games, the Lombardi Trophy would be called the Landry Trophy.

More on Andy

“Leadership is a matter of having people look at you and gain confidence, seeing how you react. If you’re in control, they’re in control.” – Tom Landry

You may tire of “We need to get better” or “I need to coach better,” but it is the truth. Paul “Bear” Bryant complimented his players after a win, but said, “We were out-coached”… after a loss.

Publicly vilifying your players will lose the locker room. Tony Dungy was criticized for not yelling and cursing at his players, yet he won a Super Bowl, doing it his way, with respect.

    • Winchester knows he snapped the ball early
    • Watkins knows he dropped a pass
    • Williams knows he fumbled
    • Mahomes knows he missed an open receiver
    • Fenton knows he fell, and
    • Players know… they missed tackles.

Andy calling out these “mistakes” publically only wrecks mental attitudes and motivations. In high school, I replayed every game in my head before falling asleep. I knew every mistake. You know the same. Whether age 16, 36, or 66… we want and need encouragement and positivity, not shame.

Count Your Blessings

“Football is an incredible game.

Sometimes it’s so incredible, it’s unbelievable.”

– Tom Landry

Enough said. Think Abundance.
