Sunday is here but the Kansas City Chiefs aren’t. They’re hopefully getting some needed R&R. So, will there be any games worth watching today? Absolutely. Besides the 3:25 game in which the 3-and-2 Denver Broncos are visiting the resurgent 2-and-4 Los Angeles Chargers, there are some other divisional games worth monitoring.
7:30 tonight will see a Super Bowl re-match with the Atlanta Falcons visiting the New England Patriots. Since the Pats are 4-and-2 and the Falcons are 3-and-2 I’m projecting the Falcons to exact some Lombardi-payback and do what they have to do to keep from falling to 3-and-3.
In an AFC North battle, the 2-and-3 Cincinnati Bengals are visiting the hated 4-and-2 Pittsburgh Steelers. We can only hope the Bengals have their act together for this contest, but I wouldn’t count on it. However, Bengal’s rookie RB Joe Mixon could have a big game vs. the Steelers D that’s not great stopping the run.
The 3-and-2 Buffalo Bills will be hosting the 2-and-3 Tampa Bay Buccaneers in an interesting match-up. Adrian Peterson ripped the Bucs defense last week so I think LeSean McCoy should have a breakout game there and keep the Bills on a winning track.
Enjoy the Games and… Go Chargers!

When asked specifically if center Mitch Morse — who has missed the Chiefs’ last five games with a foot injury — and guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif — who has missed the last three because of a knee injury — could be ready for the game, Reid answered in the affirmative. “Yeah, there is a chance — there is a chance we get some guys back. Not only those two, but a couple of the other guys back, too. It will be good to get them back in the mix.”

Alex Smith is an absurdly good 12-21 on 20+ throws, 561 yards and 6 TD. Last year: 12-40 for 427 yards and 2 TD. #Chiefs

Raise your hand if you thought that the answer to the Raiders offensive success was to blitz more.
Derek Carr vs. Chiefs blitz (via PFF): 9/11, 132 yards, 2 TDs

KC’s 2nd to last drive, Smith actually should have kept on the zone read. Would have been a big gainer instead no gain with Spiller.

KC’s final offensive drive, OAK was going to stack the box. I would have loved to see play-Action there. Instead of 2 runs & a sack.
