The big news on the first day of rookie camp is that Jamaal Charles has been placed on the Preseason Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.
Per Herbie Teope,
Chiefs placed Jamaal Charles on the PUP list to start camp, per Andy Reid.

Don’t panic Chiefs fans, the Preseason PUP is different than the PUP that players can be placed on during the regular season. When a player is placed on the “Preseason” PUP list he can be reactivated at any time. The Chiefs needed to do this because once J.C. participated in even one training camp practice he could not be placed on the Preseason PUP list.
From Sam Mellinger,
Procedural move. Can come off whenever he’s cleared. No timetable, but not by Saturday. https://t.co/oiTbqUP5ZQ
