AND THE RB CARNAGE BEGINS…
Ameer Abdullah, Danny Woodhead, Adrian Peterson, Doug Martin, Arian Foster, Jonathan Stewart; injured and missing games. And remember, Jamaal Charles isn’t even playing yet.
Speaking of Charles, Ladner Morse of ArrowheadOne.com noted:
“While many Kansas City Chiefs fans have been anticipating the return of running back extraordinaire Jamaal Charles this coming weekend, the sensible move to make, may be to have him sit out two more weeks: then Charles can get 3 more weeks to make sure his knee is ready to go, with their Bye week looming after two more games. I’d be in favor of Jamaal Charles delaying his return until then, simply because the “running back position” is one position where K.C. has looked consistently strong in their first two games… while none of their other position groups have looked particularly dependable. Whenever Jamaal Charles does return, his speed and elusiveness will add an element of flash and playmaking ability that the team hasn’t seen since… since Jamaal Charles was last seen toting the ball a year ago.” -Laddie Morse, ArrowheadOne.com

Rookie RB Dwayne Washington just got a huge promotion as Abdullah is done for 2016, injured foot. Washington is raw, folks, and mistakes will happen. He’s also darn explosive and will turn in a few big runs as well as bang home the in-close stuff for Detroit. Washington is a nifty receiver out of the backfield.
What about Theo? Remember, coaches don’t like turning over the playbook apple cart because of injuries; Riddick will see more work, but remain mostly the receiving back.
Where have you gone, Zach Zenner?

And the news just keeps getting worse in the lead up to week 3. Cleveland rookie sensation Corey Coleman broke his hand in practice. Next man up? That would be Andrew Hawkins. Yabut, who’s throwing?
Time to call it like it is, even before the messed up knee… Adrian Peterson was declining in rapid fashion. Blasphemy? AP’s YPC this season is a microscopic 1.6. He’s been at 3.5 YPC or under 8 of last 10 games. Holy Steven Jackson!
Kinda sucks to wear purple lately. First Teddy B bites it, then Peterson. Now starting LT Matt Kalil is a goner for the year. RT Clemmings is now LT Clemmings. Start your bull rushes, DEs.
Miami WR Devante Parker’s week 2 numbers look nifty; 8-106 versus the Patriots. But was that a refrigerator I saw on his back after the catch? Looked like heavy legs to me. Shhhh… hamstring.
Coach Arians’ public admonishment of star RB David Johnson is more “fire-under-the-butt” than threatening flame. Face it, Coach, you need DJ in there… you WANT DJ in there.
We’re steaming into week 3 and the Browns are already on QB #3? Honestly, who didn’t see this coming? Cleveland brass put the franchise eggs in seriously shaky and fragile hand (RG3), and kept another injury-prone veteran around for emergency duty. Now the club turns to soft-armed Cody Kessler.
Let’s see, projected solid team starts 0-2. Defense gets hammered (37 points against) in 2nd game while the offense puts up a usually winning 31. Defense is headed up by the boss’ brother… let’s fire the offensive coach! Sure, make all the sense in the world.
Some of the tribe members in Washington are squawking about their QB, Kirk Cousins, saying he’s playing too indecisive. Maybe. But give it a break already (WRs?). You really want Colt McCoy full time?
Really?
Historically RBs on a tear usually roll for 3-consecutive games then start to peter-out. Hop aboard the Forte Express while he’s hot. He’s got 1 more to go.
Melvin Gordon has strung together a solid pair… one for the road!
How does RB TJ Yeldon pulls down 8 footballs last week and end up with 10 yards receiving?
FYI… Jalin Marshall, New York Jets. That other Marshall’s knee is acting up. Then there’s that other guy, Quincy Enunwa.
Don’t fret Eli and Big Blue’s offense. ODB suffered a couple of drops in week 2.
So, what does a brash, inventive organization like the Browns do, down to their 3rd string QB? Ink Charlie Whitehurst, of course. Really… Check-down Charlie is the best CLV could do?
Whitehurst will back up 2016 rookie QB Cody Kessler. Kessler’s short-range arm isn’t able to drive the football into tight windows,
Heck! Why not line up WR Terrelle Pryor in the shot-gun. Pryor was a starting college QB and also started for the Raiders as recently as 2013.
Did you know ‘Skins QB Kirk Cousins has just 9 throws this season with the lead? From behind? 67!
With RBs dropping like bricks, might be a good idea to speed-dial these little-known reserves:
Troymaine Pope (NYJ), Corey Grant (JAX), Orleans Darkwa (NYG), Cameron-Artis Payne (CAR).
I didn’t forget you, Rob Kelley (WSH)!
Colts Donte Moncrief out for 4-6… who’s up? Quan Bray!
Jimmy G looks like he’s going to miss week 3. Tom Brady is still suspended. Rookie Jacoby Brissett is on! His backup… no one left on the bench that throws. Heck, Coach Bill just moves along… WR Julian Edelman, former Kent State starting QB, is QB2 in week 3 for the Pats.
C’mon Coach Hue, give Pryor some QB-time!
Is it me or are there A LOT more injuries since the NFL cut back on those physical practices and camps?
And yes, Stefon Diggs is for real!
You know the line… not perfect, but darn excellent.
