Should the K.C. Chiefs Make a Run at Joe Staley?
Should the Kansas City Chiefs make a run at Joe Staley? The San Francisco 49ers are dangling Staley as trade bait… again… and the asking price appears to be a second round pick. The 49ers are understandably asking for a first round pick but in the end, if they can get a second rounder they’d probably jump at the chance.
Several teams are listed as potential buyers and while the Chiefs are not listed among the suitors, the question remains: should they be?
Aside from the trade amount, there’s the question of whether or not the Chiefs could fit Staley under the cap? Check this out:

While I can’t verify this, it does appear that based on this amount, that the Chiefs could create a way to pay Joe Staley.
So, what would a Chiefs O-line with Joe Staley on it look like? Some will say that moving Eric Fisher inside would not be good for Fisher but Joe Staley has made 5 Pro Bowls and three of those were All-Pro years. Insert Staley at left tackle, move Fisher to Left Guard… and the Chiefs would have what could approach the Juggernaut Offensive Front they had 12 years ago with Willie Roaf and Will Shields on it.
The Kansas City Chiefs have long been the serfs in the Kingdom of Offensive Lines. Here’s an opportunity for them to step it up and take advantage of the Joe Staley opportunity.
Staley may be looking to sign for multiple years with a team and while the Chiefs have other players on their roster who need to be re-signed, perhaps they could just bring him in the rest of this season to use him and make a Super run into the playoffs.
What do you think Chiefs fans? Are you interested at all in Joe Staley?
