K.C. Chiefs: Poe No More

It looks like the Kansas City Chiefs are not going to apply the franchise tag to stellar defensive tackle Dontari Poe.

Poe was drafted by the Chiefs in the 2012 NFL draft, eleventh overall. Dontari has risen to Pro Bowl status in his time with the Chiefs but hasn’t gained that designation since 2014. Back surgery the summer before last has affected him to the extent that there has been a noticeable drop-off in his play. Still considered one of the premiere nose tackles in the NFL, Poe will likely see some team pay top dollar for his services. For now, it looks like his time in red and gold is coming to an end.

I remember what life was like without a good nose tackle on the roster… I hope that Chris Jones, Jaye Howard, and Allen Bailey can make the loss of Poe not sting quite so much.
