Knile Davis: A Chief Again!
No, it isn’t an accidental reprint of an old story…Knile Davis: A Chief Again? I actually made the completely unexpected prognostication of The Chiefs resigning former running back Knile Davis after his release from Green Bay. He did make a short flight connection through JFK, but is now back in Kansas City.
Knile Davis
B.J. Kissel, Chiefs Reporter, is reporting the resigning as of this morning. Good news for a depleted RB corps.
I am sure he is pretty much up to speed on the playbook given the short duration of his absence. This should allow him to be a solid backup with Jamaal Charles and Spencer Ware out of the lineup.
Although it feels rather unlucky that we have racked up so many injuries to key players in such a short time, I see this as a stroke of good luck. Davis has had his issues with fumbling and obviously was considered expendable with his release, however, I think he is very serviceable as a backup in this situation.
Who knows, perhaps his time away has helped motivate and focus him. A close call with being out of football may be just what he needed to fire him up.
While I didn’t think he could crack the top three with Ware, Charles, and Charcandrick West available, he would be the next one up. Let’s hope this move pays off and we see a new Davis (one with a grip of steel).
Welcome back Knile, and Go Chiefs!
