Marshawn Lynch has told the Oakland Raiders that he is interested in un-retiring. If the Raiders are able to acquire Lynch from the Seattle Seahawks who still hold his rights, the question is… did they just get better?
The Oakland Raiders will have to deal with the Seattle Seahawks but a deal appears doable. Possibly trading late round picks so the Seahawks can move up a little. When all is said and done and a trade does happen, Lynch believes he’ll have a chance to win a championship with the Oakland Raiders… the primary reason he is returning.
Marshawn Lynch will turn 31 years old in two weeks on April 22. Running backs have a life expectancy of 4 to 8 years and so many RBs careers end before they really get going. Lynch appears to be the exception to those rules. He has won a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks and a bit of national notoriety for not talking to the press. Lynch was drafted by Buffalo and has gained 9,112 yards averaging 4.3 yards-per-carry. He’s known for his wide gait as he runs the ball making him one of the harder RBs to tackle. His last season with Seattle in 2015, Lynch only played in 7 games and totaled 417 yards.
Rotoworld says of Marshawn Lynch,
“ESPN’s Sheil Kapadia believes the Seahawks may be forced to cut Marshawn Lynch if he decides to come out of retirement. Lynch would be owed $9 million, a number which would take up a large chunk of Seattle’s remaining $14.7 million cap space. The Seahawks could hold Lynch in an effort to extract a draft pick from the Raiders, but doing so would limit their flexibility in the second and third waves of free agency. If Lynch does come back, Kapadia believes the Seahawks will “most likely” release him.”
