NFL Top 100: Eric Berry, Lucky 13

The players in the National Football League have made known what we have all known for years: Eric Berry is one of the best Safeties in the league… and best player for that matter. In fact, there are only 12 players better than our Mr. Berry as the NFL Channel’s show called, “The Top 100 Players of 2017” has tallied the votes of other players and made Eric Berry the 13th best player in the NFL.

Earlier this offseason the Chiefs signed Eric Berry to a 6 year, $78M contract with a $20M signing bonus, $40M guaranteed, and an average annual take of $13M. Berry is not only the Chiefs best — and highest ranked — player but they made him the best paid Safety in the league. However, Berry’s value transcends his market price and his overcoming Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is not only an inspiration to many others around the world but he is “the” locker room and on-field leader.

It doesn’t get much better than Eric Berry. His head and heart are always in the right place and he has progressed to the extent that he’s now able to take over games with his turnovers.

Only Ron Parker played more snaps than Eric Berry in 2016 on the Chiefs defense and Berry was in on 97% of the defensive snap counts with 1,085. EB added four INTs in 2016 with 2 TDs (pick-sixes). The 5th overall selection by the Chiefs in the 2010 draft has 14 career INTs to go along with his 427 career tackles.
