What will be allowed and encouraged:
Lively discussions in which a difference of opinions is expressed in a respectful way.
Inflammatory vs Exclamatory
What will not be allowed:
Comments meant to spark anger, or express hostility towards others.
What will be allowed:
Expressing great surprise, strong emotions and even vehement protest for others views. Disagreeing strongly, is not a reason for expulsion. Being told “You’re wrong” followed by the reason(s) why, should open a door for quality discussion, not anger.”
Harassment* and/or Bullying vs Standing Ground
What will not be allowed:
Comments which disparage others and have one purpose and that is to hurt others (please seek therapy).
What will be allowed:
Comments that are intended to be playful: recognizing that when we “play,” sometimes someone skins their knee. Please consider an apology as a sign of great strength. Repeated and purposeful skinning of another’s knees, will be called what it is: Bullying.
*Note: the difference between Harassment and Bullying is… that Harassment includes a physical threat. Such comments will be reported to real authorities. Please be aware that that whatever you do or say online, is easily tracked.
What will not be allowed:
Comments that could wound another’s sense of positive self-worth.
What will be allowed:
Comments that build a bond and bolster everyone’s esteem.
“Asking questions” of another is a great way to honor and respect what they think, feel or believe. Tip: If you and someone else consistently disagree, sometimes it’s best to just ask a quesiton… and then leave it at that.
