Patrick Mahomes is Back: Here’s Why Now – it certainly can’t be because he was simply missed because that would be an understatement but the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback supreme is back in his starting role after three weeks of recovery from a knee injury.

As you heard, Mahomes will wear a brace but it’s only as he feels he needs it. I’ve mentioned before that I’ve had a “trick-knee” in the past (prior to having knee replacement surgery) and it was the worst pain I’ve ever had but… once the knee popped back into place, the pain was 100% gone and the functionality of the knee was also 100%. The difference here is that, Patrick Mahomes’ knee never was popped out of joint… only his kneecap and that was only for a few minutes.
As to the question of “why now?” The doctors working with Mahomes didn’t have any reason to hold him back at this point. You hear Mahomes say he’s been working with the doctors and if he’s showing full mobility and has no signs of pain… why hold him back?
What was tested out this week in Kansas City was if Patrick Mahomes could play his style of football.
Mahomes went out and threw on the run, across his body, etc and was easily able to do it and more importantly, was able to do it pain free.

The NFL and Chiefs Kingdom have been waiting for this moment ever since he went down and then jumped back up and said he was ready to go right then. While I may be overly cautious and would like to see him sit another week… what’s the point if he’s going to be just as ready to go one week from now?
Let’s not forget the magic that is, “Patrick Mahomes” and as soon as he steps on the field in Nashville on Sunday, we’ll see more of the same.
"The other deep pass artists throw the high-arcing beauties. @PatrickMahomes does it differently. He throws lasers. 42 yards on a rope. Oh, and he handles the rock like a point guard… because he is one." – @PSchrags
