Seeing Red

by Frank Leggio

I think it is about time we switch it up a little and talk uniforms. Enough has been said about the Titan debacle, so I thought this topic might be more fun as we head into the weekend.

UNIFORMS

For about as long as I can remember, we sported one of three uniforms. The Red over White, White over Red, or All White. Maybe it is that is because it is hardly ever worn or maybe it is because I like the color red, but the fourth uniform of Red over Red is my favorite.

Colors can be powerful, red more so than others. Color has an impact on our emotions. It is the color of blood and fire. It is intense and assertive, aggressive and passionate. It represents courage, leadership, energy, and excitement. In China, it is used for good luck and prosperity. Some studies have shown red to cause higher levels of enthusiasm, energy, and confidence. So, more red please.

Here are a few pictures of the team in all red. It sure looks like they are having fun and playing pretty well in the reds.

HELMETS

I am pretty happy with our helmets these days. I think they have a classic look that is clean and crisp. It doesn’t try to do too much and it also looks awesome. That being said, I dug up some concept helmets for discussion.

These four have a few different base colors from the normal red. I kind of like the one in the upper left as an occasional helmet to mix it up, but other than that, it is too yellow for regular use. I am not a big fan of the white one in the upper right. The white just doesn’t make much of a statement. I also like both of the black ones on the bottom and could even stand semi-regular use of them. The one on the lower right reminds me a bit of the Darth Vader helmet, so that may be good for intimidation. The one on the lower left is more of a carbon looking color, which is nice, and I like the arrowhead.

Another of my favorites for use on special occasions is this one. I really like the headdress on it.

However, after looking at a number of different concepts, I still think this one is the best.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and let me know your favorite uniform and helmet. No matter which ones they choose, they will definitely be better than the what the opposition is wearing.

Until Sunday and Go Chiefs, Break The Broncs.

That’s the Rub!
