A Short, Sweet Chiefs Thanksgiving
If you took time out of your day on Thanksgiving to read a Chiefs article by an amateur author, I’m not sure whether to be proud of you, or refer you to a psychiatrist (who am I kidding, I’m totally proud of you). In any case, I’ll keep this piece short and sweet so you can get back to your day. I have a lot to thank God for. My family, a good job with great people and the creation of a fantastic new Chiefs Blog, this year, by one Ladner Morse (heaven help me I am a suck-up). That’s not all though, any Chiefs fan has a lot to be thankful for today, but I’ll keep it to five things for the fifth day of the week (Thursday).
Clark Hunt
Many teams languish in anguish because their owner is more interested in making money than spending it. Consider the Charger’s, whose standoff with Joey Bosa may have cost them some close wins. That happened because Chargers ownership has cash flow problems. Other teams deal with owners who cackle madly as they fire coach after coach for failing to fix perennial bottom-dwellers in a single season. We often worry about Chiefs lack of cap space, but that lack should remind us to be grateful for an owner that is willing to pay what it takes to win games.
Andy Reid
If you’re a fan of an NFL team, other than the Patriots, you tend to divide your time between claiming that no team could be as successful as the Patriots without cheating, and complaining that your team is not as successful as the Patriots. I’d love the Chiefs to be a Super Bowl contender every year, but let’s not pretend that Andy Reid is anything less than the best coach we’ve had in 20+ years. Since Reid arrived, my reaction to a win is no longer surprise and my reaction to a loss is now anger. Anger, because, thanks to Reid, I now expect this team to win. That’s a change worth celebrating.
John Dorsey

In all seriousness, Dorsey has built a great roster, he’s not perfect, but he’s among the best in the NFL and, if all he did was draft Marcus Peters, he’d still be worthy of a big thank you.
Marcus Peters
We saw last Sunday just what a difference Marcus Peters makes, but we pretty much see that every Sunday. Peters is a truly unique player. He may be one of most average athletes on the team, but his football IQ, his competitive spirit make him one of the most dominant players in the NFL. You can watch the league for the next 50 years and you might not see another player who could match Peters’ football mind.
Spencer Ware
The Chiefs have had some amazing RBs: Priest Holmes, Larry Johnson, Christian Okoye and Jamaal Charles just to name a few. Spence Ware is the next in that long line. He finished 2015 with an amazing average of 3.8 yards after contact. This year, he has really upped his receiving skills, coming up with some huge plays early to help Chiefs come back against a tough Chargers team.
