Sunday’s Training Camp: More Than Practice

Screen Shot 2016-07-24 at 9.35.52 PMThe Kansas City Cheifs had an abbreviated practice on Sunday morning truncated by lightening. So, they moved indoors, I understand, which is someplace out of reach for me. However, I got some great tape on the outdoor practice they did have, the best tape of a practice I’ve ever gotten simply because of the close-ups. At one point I thought I was part of a reality show because the offensive linemen had moved their drills closer and closer to me until they moved over right next to the fence which I just so happened to be standing at.

I wish I could have stayed in Kansas City longer to attend more practices but taxes and my last year of teaching are calling my name in the next two week.

Enjoy!

Practice began with light stretching.

Coach Andy Reid was taking complete advantage of both practice fields and had groups of players covering nearly every inch of the practice space. Here, a group was going over catching punts and kickoff returns.

In this one, WR Kashif Moore drops it, and I don’t know if you can hear it on this tape but, at camp he let out an audible groan heard by everyone. He was not a happy camper.

Then the rain began to come down… but when the lightening struck nearby everyone did an “exit stage left”… but it was to the right for the Chiefs players.

I was totally deflated (no reference intended) and forced to the gates of help… along with the rest of the masses. Fortunately for me, the blanket I brought with me was plastic on one side.

What would an experience covering the Chiefs be without the appropriate attire….

What do you think Chiefs fans? For a short outdoor practice, the team sure got a lot of good teaching and learning in.
