Super Bowl Reactions: What Are They Thinking?

Super Bowl Reactions: What Are They Thinking? – it occurred to me recently that the players who were with the Kansas City Chiefs last year may be wondering “what if”… quite a bit right now. So, I got to thinking about others who were with the team in previous years and what they may be thinking as well? Then I was thinking about what a wider range of coaches and analysts might be thinking about the Chiefs now that they’ve gone and won the whole darn enchilada? Let’s take a peek.

Jeff Allen

Let’s begin with a class act: Jeff Allen. Allen played OG for the Chiefs from 2012-2115 and again 2018-2019. He posted this on February 2nd but prior to the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl that day. Amazing player and even better person. Chiefs were so fortunate to have him in their locker room and on the field when they did.

Michael Vick

Guess who was pulling for Andy Reid to win his first Super Bowl? Naturally, Michael Vick. When someone like Reid gives you a second chance in life, you are going to be grateful, eternally grateful. Ahhh, sweet, sweet, redemption.

Chris Conley

WR Chris Conley left for the Jacksonville Jaguars last spring. I wonder what he’s thinking right now? Does he regret it or is he thinking the Jags will make it to the Super Bowl soon? Hmmm…. Not likely.

Demetrius Harris

Demetrius Harris was with the Chiefs from 2013 to 2018 and left last year to play for the Cleveland Browns, where he makes $3M per. While I haven’t been able to find any kind of congratulatory statement from him… I do find it interesting that the year after Andy Reid cut Harris, Reid wins a Super Bowl. A somewhat ludicrous statement for sure but… even with two tight ends who underperformed, the Chiefs were better off this year than when they “carried” Harris on their roster.

Marty Schottenheimer

Wow… It warms my heart to know it warms his heart. I always wanted a Lombardi for Marty. At least he gets to see his Chiefs win one.

Nick Wright/Eric Mangini

Nick gives his recipe for a winning franchise but I’ especially interested to see Eric Mangini squirm in his seat as Wright talks. Mangini said later that, “You just can’t assume success going forward because you have a HC and a QB in place.” I’ve never heard an ex-HC who is as surly as Mangini. He just can’t bring himself to congratulate anyone.

Tony Gonzalez

Tony sticks his face in this video taken right after the Chiefs win the Super Bowl from the ground floor of Hard Rock Stadium. He left the Chiefs to go and win one with the Falcons but that never materialized. Now he’s a Hall of Famer in a Falcons jersey and I wonder if he thinks that was the right decision too?

Justin Houston

No word from Justin Houston.

Marcus Peters

No word from Marcus Peters either but… while the Chiefs were winning their Super Bowl Rings on February 2nd, Marcus Peters and Jaylon Smith were pitching for another institution:

I don’t believe the Chiefs could have won a Super Bowl with Marcus Peters on the roster. The Chiefs 2019 squad was so dialed in and on the same page, he’d have been too much of a distraction. That being said, I hope the Chiefs draft a CB early in the 2020 draft.

Derrick Johnson

With the Super Bowl just beyond the reach of DJ’s aging body, it must be extremely difficult to watch his old team win a ring without being part of it. He is destined for the Chiefs Ring of Honor in my book.

A quality man reaches out and makes a quality statement of support!!!

Tamba Hali

From Tamba’s seat at the Super Bowl from one end zone:

Hali tweets during the game:

Tamba goes on to re-tweet this video from the Chiefs of the play of two DL, his position while he was with the Chiefs of course!

Tamba had many other tweets about the Chiefs Super Bowl game. Hali deserves to be in the Chiefs Ring of Honor one day soon and all I can say about him is: he’s a lover… and boy does he let it flow freely! [my highest compliment]

Eric Berry

I’ve been thinking about Eric Berry and wishing he could have enjoyed this victory. After his last two years in K.C. without any production to speak of, it was the right decision to let him go. Want fans to eb aware there’s someone out there with a petition for Eric Berry to get a ring:

Skip Bayless

Some people will never admit that their rival is better than the team (or player) they love. Some people are hopeless. Even Shannon Sharpe of the show “Undisputed” has taken on the idea that the Chiefs are the best team with the best QB. Skip Bayless? “Helpless, Helpless”

Dick Vermeil and Dustin Colquitt

Dustin Colquitt has now won a Super Bowl ring like his brother and father have. Here he talks at the media day Super Bowl week and relates a cool Dick Vermeil story. What a family legacy. Hope his kids like to kick balls.

Carl Peterson

I heard Peterson being interviewed prior to the game and he was very complimentary about what the Chiefs organization was doing. Remains a Chiefs fan to this day:

Alex Smith and Paul Rudd

Is there ever a time when we don’t know what Paul Rudd is thinking? I jest of course but he talks about what many of us Chiefs fans think about Alex Smith:

I will echo the sentiments of Game Boy 4 and say, I also hope Alex Smith is one day a Chiefs coach. We owe a debt of gratitude to him for doing the selfless job of taking Patrick Mahomes under his wing and teaching him, a person who would ultimately replace him:

Some radio analysts here in K.C. have argued that Alex Smith deserves a Super Bowl ring, which I don’t agree with. Perhaps Patrick Mahomes can let Smith hold his ring while he’s in town… but giving Alex his own. No.

Dee Ford

I don’t really care what Dee Ford has to say now. However, I will just say… LIV could have been the Chiefs second Super Bowl win in a row. Bitterness here? Naw… none at all.

Damien Williams

I don’t know what he thought, but like many Chiefs fans, I thought Damien Williams should have gotten the Super Bowl MVP trophy for his outstanding performance. I don’t have a quarrel that PM2 won it but DWill was the first to come to mind following the game. My opinion of him grew with this exchange with Raheem Mostert (the two played together shortly and became friends while with the Dolphins) following the game, even though Mostert has now said he’ll return the jersey to WIlliams (presumably because WIlliams told Jimmy Kimmel that his mother was asking about it).

Mitch Holthus

In the final call of Super Bowl LIV Mitch Holthus brings us chills and tears simultaneously.
