Texans vs Chiefs Preseason Game One:

OPEN THREAD

Laddie Morse

The day is finally here. Kansas City Chiefs football is here and now. In an offseason of change the most changes have come on defense and the projected results are split: some say the defense will be worse and other say the defense couldn’t be worse. I thin the plan was to acquire defensive pieces in the draft and then develop them over the next could of years. Sure, guys like Tremon Smith or Armani Watts or Derrick Nnadi could all make an impact his year but I think the plan for them is a long range plan.

On offense, it’s all been about giving second year QB, Patrick Mahomes, the tools he needs to be successful and the glut of talented running backs in camp would indicate that HC Andy Reid is planning on buffering the beginning of Mahomes career with a host of players who can take the heat of of him by running the ball down the opponents throats. You can be sure that the Chiefs will gradually ease their 10th pick overall last year into the mean league to help him in his transition.

Numbers to Watch

22 – the number 22 is no longer the number for Marcus Peters. It now belongs to Robert Golden.

24 – CB David Amerson is the Raider’s transplant. Let’s watch to see is he can reclaim his old glory.

8 – QB Chase Litton is a rookie UDFA who is completing for the #3 spot.

11 – WR Demarcus Robinson has had an excellent camp for far. Let’s see it carries over to game time.

14 – if Sammy Watkins makes his presence known right away, it’ll be a great thing.

26 – RB Damien Williams could end up the #2 RB if he shines in preseason games.

21 – Eric Murray is Daniel Sorensen’s replacement. He needs to put up.

53 & 59 – Anthony Hitchens and Reggie Ragland are the new lock-down run stoppers. Here’s hoping.

57 & 92 – Breeland Speaks and Tanoh Kpassagnon need to step up. At least one of them.

75 – Cam Erving is the new OLG and is said to be doing well. Keep your eyes on that position.

Who do you want to keep an eye on during preseason game one? Here’s a link to the Chiefs roster if you want to keep track of others. The numbers above are the main one’s I’ll be keeping track of.

Go Chiefs! Go Chiefs! Go Chiefs!
