With the failed stadium tax vote in Jackson County MO, on Tuesday of this week it seems prudent to focus on the net worth of the owners in the NFL. Plus, it will be interesting to see exactly where Clark Hunt (and his family) stack up in terms of wealth.
If the NFL is a business for the owners… who are the richest owners in the NFL?
An article at Profootballnetwork.com written by John Fields, “NFL’s Richest Owners Ranked From 32 to 1 (Updated 2024)”… which was updated just this week, it says this about the lowest owners of Teams, in terms of Net Worth (which indicates the opposite):
.
“Right off the bat, this is a bit of a technicality. The Green Bay Packers are the only team not to have a traditional “owner.” Instead, they sell stock in the Packers, allowing fans to become pseudo-owners and shareholders. With that said, they are one of the wealthiest teams in the NFL, regardless of the dynamic.”
.
Next in line, as the poorest owner in the NFL, is Mike Brown, son of the famous Paul Brown, of the Bengals. His net worth is reportedly: $925 million. By the way, Mike Brown of the Bengals is the only owner to not have a billions dollar net worth… yet. Poor guy.
At #30 is Art Rooney II of the Pittsburgh Steelers. His grandfather, Art Rooney Sr., founded the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1933. They have made most all of their wealth from the team rather than outside ventures. They are one of the most well-respected families in the NFL and their net worth is $1.2 billion.
Now, let’s get to the top 10 Franchises that have the most money in the NFL.

.
.
If you’re feeling a little guilty for the way you voted — if you voted no on extending the stadium tax — you can see that you may not have to feel that way. The top ten NFL owners have a collective net worth of 222.5 billion.
.
If you haven’t heard by now, the Chiefs re-signed DL Mike Danna to a three year deal.
