In less than one-half an hour, the National Football League 2016 season kicks off the way last season ended: with The Carolina Panthers playing the Denver Broncos. Only this time, I predict the outcome will be much different. Most fans will focus on the fact that Peyton magnificent is no longer there along with a host of others including key defensive players but I say you better watch out for the team with revenge in their hearts, a motive too big to ignore.
The Carolina Panthers clobbered most of their opponents last season and went to the Super Bowl as favorites. Yes, the Denver Broncos defense was to be respected but the big storyline of last season was Cam Newton and his Panthers. If you can look past the Mark Sanchez debacle — because I really would rather not talk about him — you’ll find a Denver offense in disarray and will likely be dependent upon a C.J. Anderson running attack and whether it is Anderson or not, if the Broncos are to have any success this season it will be because of their running game. However, when any offense is imbalanced like that, they will suffer. And suffer they will, beginning tonight, against a whole and balanced Panthers team.
So, join me, and sit back and watch as the Chiefs do nothing tonight… except move their way into first place… along with the Chargers and the Raiders. If you can’t get the game where you’re at, it is being streamed on NBC.com at:
