Thursday Open Thread: Draft Day Is Here!

The Hype’s End — Today! Two days ago, I swore off doing Mock Drafts. That made Wednesday’s article easier. Then I had a middle-of-the-night thought about an update. I did not get out of bed to add it. I am sure y’all suffered accordingly.

You have played your mocks, anticipated the draft, and today it’s here, although we must wait until “prime time” to watch the festivities and hype surrounding the NFL draft. Will the Chiefs stand pat? Will they trade up? Could they trade up twice? How do Injuries to key draftees figure in? You might want to check in on a link for draft nominees and injuries!

Have fun, Chiefs fans! I will be interested as all learn what Brett Veach and Co. do on Day One. We have two picks. That’s something that doesn’t occur often. Twelve picks are incredibly unusual. My view? Veach does not stand pat. But Harken one and all! Brett Veach, amongst all the statements he has made, observed: “When you have Pat Mahomes, we’re wired to go after it every year…What’s needed to do that is draft resources and cap space. Just because you trade away a good player doesn’t mean we’re in a rebuilding mode by any means. It just means we’re going to find a new set of resources and get aggressive.” I believe this will be the case. WTiV! He also said this; “As far as what to believe, I wouldn’t believe anything.” As for me? I am taking it easy for the day as much as possible. Doing some writing and playing at being Laddie is callous work!
