Top Five Reasons Players Want To Play in Kansas City

As I was pondering this week in the offseason, I started thinking about the recent contract signings, free agency, and the upcoming draft. I was wondering what would make a player want to play in Kansas City, other than just money. So, I put on the thinking cap, built a spreadsheet model, compiled terabytes of data, conducted a survey monkey survey with every player in the league, and came up with the top five reasons players want to play in KC. Actually, I didn’t do any of that, I just started jotting down the first things that came to mind. And, without further ado, here is the list.

#1 – Arrowhead Is Home

This is a big one. From the great fans, to the wonderful tailgating, to being the loudest in the land, Arrowhead is a great place to play. Many experienced NFL players will confirm it is rather difficult to call plays when the crowd is rocking. You would need to get a jet engine on the practice field at home to simulate.

Arrowhead Stadium as it broke the record for loudest stadium during the September 29, 2014 home game against the New England Patriots. The Chiefs won 41-14.

It was so loud, the former Denver QB, John Elway whined to a ref and got him to threaten a penalty if the crowd didn’t quiet down.

I also enjoy the pyrotechnics.

#2 Kansas City Barbecue

This is undeniably the best barbecue in the nation. It is the food that is used as payoffs in bets with other cities and the food that people can talk about for hours. Some people with say they know the best restaurant in KC for BBQ, but I would say it can be hard to go wrong.

There are different meats and different cuts with differing spices and recipes for preparation. However, I find them all to be delicious and like the variety so I can switch it up based on my mood and hunger level.

I am sure everyone’s mouth is watering after looking at those pics and remembering the last time you had some KC BBQ.

#3 Best Uniforms / Logo In The League

These uniforms have a clean and classic look. Although my favorite is the all red, I like the red over white, white over red, and the all white ones too. These have stood the test of time and will be around for years to come, I am sure.

We aren’t messing around with off the wall colors or goofy logos. These are all business.

Just look at former KC running back, Jamaal Charles. He is sporting two variations and looks fast in both.

#4 Team Is Led By An Elite Quarterback

This guy is the emotional leader of the offense. Always fired up and ready to play. Doesn’t make many mistakes and steps up when needed.

He will get the tough yards when he has to and will call his own number when the game is on the line.

He is way more mobile than most quarterbacks and will take what the defense gives him. Sometimes that is a touchdown.

As a former number one pick and long-tenured veteran in this league, he is calm and cool under pressure. This is a guy people want to have as their QB.

#5 Getting To See The Kool-Aid Man Daily

Let’s be honest, this head coach is a lot of fun. Every time I see him in his coaching uniform I am brought back to my childhood and seeing the Kool-Aid man run through a wall when someone says “Hey Kool-Aid!”.

When I put pictures of them side by side I can’t believe how much alike they look. Almost like they were twins separated at birth.

John Dorsey should have a rather easy time attracting talent with all of this going for him.

Well, those are my top 5 reasons. What are yours?

Until next week, there’s The Rub!
