Tyreek Hill: Can I Get A Witness? – Anytime a player, in any sport, excels the way Tyreek Hill has this year — and especially against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday — that player deserves special national attention. Not that Hill isn’t already garnering his fair share of praise, but he’s doing some things that are beyond special this year. Most importantly to me — and other die hard Chiefs fans — he is helping to make the K.C. offense an unbeatable force.
That was before Monday Night Football saw DK Metcalf pull in 10 catches for 177 yards, which makes him the leader in receiving yards. However, Mr. Hill and Mr. Kelce are numbers 2 and 3 and nipping on his heels.
Trust in Hill
To begin to break down Tyreek Hill’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, I want to start at the end. There were only 1:40 seconds left on the clock, but the Chiefs had the ball and with a 3rd down and 7 to go, had to make a first down to keep from having to punt it back to Brady and crew.
Hill not only catches the ball, but goes to the ground inbounds to keep the clock running. The Bucs had gone on a 24-to-10 streak after falling behind by 17-to-nothing early on so giving the ball back to them was not a situation where Andy Reid could say: I’ll trust my defense. On this day, they were not so trustworthy.

I love Brian Baldinger’s Breakdowns. So, here’s part of his analysis on the Chiefs first drive. In this situation, it was 2nd-and-9 at the Buccaneers 30 yard line:

Tyreek the Best?
If you ask any of the Chiefs players what they’d rather have… a Pro Bowl berth and to be known as the best at their position… or… a Super Bowl ring, guess what they’d say? That’s right, the jewelry. It seems like a moot point at this point. The best Tight End in Football is Travis Kelce, and now the best Wide Receiver is Tyreek Hill. If you don’t agree, it doesn’t matter, the Chiefs are favored to win the Super Bowl this year and are already the defending Super Bowl Champions.
Historical Perspective
To talk about Lynn Swann and John Stallworth without talking about Terry Bradshaw would be silly. Same goes for any conversation about Jerry Rice without mentioning both his Hall of Fame QBs: Joe Montana and Steve Young. So…
So, if you pair Patrick Mahomes with both Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill, you have a huge problem if you’re a defensive coordinator for any of the other 31 teams. Once again, here’s Brian Baldinger breaking down of a quick read by Patrick Mahomes on a slant by Hill, that turns into much more.
Below is the 75-yard TD catch and run to the end zone by Tyreek, which is one of my favorite plays he’s ever made. Notice that Mahomes releases the ball at the 18 yard line and Hill catches it at the opposite end of the field at the 21 yard line. If my calculations are correct, that’s a pass that traveled 61 yards in the air.
The 26 year old Tyreek Hill — and still clearly in his prime — has continued to develop over his 4 1/2 year career. Yes, he once had some challenges off the field, but he now has entered a new era of his career. One in which he is mentioned along with the best WRs in the NFL on a consistent basis. However, he’s also being mentioned along with the best wide receivers… to ever play the game:

Hysterical Perspective
The result of Tyreek Hill’s combination of speed, hand strength, and ball skills have made opposing team’s defensive backfields look like a clown car:
Like a recent poster stated about Hill, if you see his Peace Sign… it’s too late for you.
That Peace Sign will be at the ready long before it appears… if opposing DC’s make silly decisions:
Tyreek Hill is going to give away 40 yards to Adam Schefter in a 100-yard dash race? I don’t know about you, but I’m still — easily — taking Hill. All day long every day.
Hill the Healer
Tyreek Hill now has healing power. How do I know? When have you ever, ever, ever heard of both Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless agreeing on ANYTHING???
