Who Dat? Mr. Mahomes, That’s Who! Chiefs Win!

Who Dat? Mr. Mahomes. That’s Who! Chiefs Win! – I normally start my game recap with my thoughts prior to the game. Not this recap, Chiefs Kingdom. First, I really didn’t feel anything but confidence prior to the game… except for confidence. I’m always confident in my Chiefs. It’s been both a curse and a blessing. In seasons past (8 seasons past) when we went 2-14, Mr. Homer (me), was confident (albeit wrong) every game (well, 14 times, and that’s almost every game). Yesterday was no different.

Second, why bother? As I stated earlier, I am a Homer, through and through. I might worry about the offensive line, or wonder if our secondary receivers (that would be anyone other than Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, or Mecole Hardman) are up to snuff. That’s the extent of my questioning of the franchise that Andy Reid has built. In my mind’s eyre, the glass is neither half-empty nor half-full. I’m even confident that there’s always beer in the fridge. So life — like our Chiefs — is golden.

Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes find ways to win and convince their fellow Chiefs of the same. Just like I believe in Santa Claus, I believe in the Chiefs.

View From The Cheap Seats

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the New Orleans Saints on their home field, 32-to-29. The Chiefs defense was solid, holding the usually prolific Saints offense to 60 yards total rushing and 234 yards total passing. Yet, the Saints came close to beating the Chiefs, like so many teams before them. Close, but no cigar. Again, like so many teams before them. You’ve got to do better when you face the best team in the NFL. You know, the Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs.

Mr. Mahomes, or… Patrick, or… Saints Slayer, or… MVPat, went 26 of 47 with no interceptions, tossing three touchdowns, and a 92.0 passer rating. The Chiefs defense held the Saints to but 15 first downs (compared to the Chiefs 34 first downs) and only allowed their ancient gunslinger Drew Brees and his offense for a little under 19 minutes (18:46 ToP). Rookie L’Jarius Sneed stepped up his game and is absolutely amazing. In this game, Sneed had a pick and a sack and deserves mad consideration for NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year.

This week, as with most weeks when the Chiefs have taken the field this season (save one), the best team won.

Stat of the Game

The 2020 Kansas City Chiefs are only the 3rd team to win all of their road games in the season after winning the Super Bowl. The only other two? The 1989 and 1990 San Francisco 49ers.

Highlight of the Game

Looks like Brees got Sneeded!

Quote of the Game

“One positive I take from this game going forward, now we only have to win 1-of-2. We can do that without playing Mahomes and without CEH or Bell. Hopefully one of them returns in a month for the playoffs.” – ArrowheadOne Writer, Alan Haupt

Game Song: This Christmas

Today’s Game Song has absolutely nothing to do with the win down south yesterday (but, it does have to do with this week). Rather, I’ve selfishly included it, as it’s my favorite Christmas song ever. Take a moment, listen and enjoy! Donny Hathaway nailed this song! Also, please add your favorite Christmas songs to the comments. The more, the merrier!

… and the Game Ball Goes to …

Chiefs rookie L’Jarius Sneed. He is a force to be reckoned with. Be afraid NFL quarterbacks. Be very afraid!

Looking Ahead

Next up, the Atlanta Falcons travel to Arrowhead Stadium to take on our Chiefs next Sunday at noon on December 27th. They’d have been better off if they’d just waited for the Devil to go down to Georgia. 😄

Parting Shots

Enjoy your Christmas, ArrowheadOne readers. Take a moment between now and December 25th to tell just one stranger “Merry Christmas.” As they say in the Mandalorian, “It is the way.”

Merry Christmas, ArrowheadOne!
