David Bell
In the previous series of articles, I focused on the WRs in camp. Well, nine of them anyway. That led me to thinking about this group of players(Why) and what I expect. My thoughts then took a turn, focusing outside the Kingdom(Why Not). Two season ago, NFL Defensive Coordinators tried to force the Chiefs to long drives. That didn’t work which culminated in the 2022 season, it’s tough-fought games and then the stretch run into the playoffs and eventually to the Super Bowl. Tyreek Hill had departed and Patrick Mahomes no longer had that “Complete” deep threat in his arsenal. It didn’t matter. Patrick took what he could get and turned in a near stellar regular season with 14 wins and only 3 losses (one of which mystifies me still…The loss at Indianapolis, week 3 – Chiefs 17, Colts 20). The other losses were to the Bills by 4 points and Bengals by 3. If you think about that, KC lost 3 games by a total of 10 points. Axiomatically, they won too frequently b 6 points or less: 9 games were decided by such close margins and if you add the 3 losses, that is 12 games where the difference in points was 6 points or less.
The 2023 WR Corps (The Why)
It’s not difficult to anticipate the first four Wide Receivers who will make the final roster, barring mishap in Training Camp or a Pre-Season Game. My list of sure bets is:
.
.
The Next Two
.
On The Bubble Wild Cards
.
Three Other WRs on the 90-man Roster (no short-brief)
Three More WRs I did not profile in the Short-Briefs Series
.
Outside Possibility —> Does Brett Veach Make a Move?
.
