CHIEFS WEEK 17 GAME THREAD
Happy New Year Chiefs fans and AO buddies! The last game of the season will feature the Kansas City Chiefs visiting the Los Angeles… err… the San Diego… Chargers. The Chargers quarterback, Philip Rivers, has made it clear that the Chargers will be taking them seriously so this will be no cakewalk for the Chiefs who are possibly playing for the division lead and a Bye Week on the chance that they win and Broncos beat the Oakland Raiders in Denver.
Only 1-out-of-10 ESPN writers are picking the Chiefs to lose and the same is true for a Denver loss. So, if all players show up to play-to-win, then the Chiefs would be resting next weekend. If that happens, I like the Chiefs odds of making it to the AFC Championship game because Andy Reid is awfully good following a Bye Week which would be essentially what the Chiefs would be getting.
With Alex Smith having grown up 9 miles from San Diego and his having played in that stadium as a youth… I expect him to have one of his best days ever as a quarterback in the NFL.

One last season ending note: I said to myself when I started this site six months ago (it will be our half year birthday on January 3rd)… that I didn’t want to make blind predictions with no followup down the line. Many sites, and many writers on those sites, make wild predictions and then the next year comes and they do it again, with no accountability. My prediction for Sunday’s game in San Diego: Chiefs 38, Chargers 24.
