Bills Beat Chiefs in a Heartbreaker, 20-to-17

It didn’t take long before Kansas City Chiefs fans knew this game was not going to be an easy one. The Buffalo Bills marched down the field in the first quarter — twice — to take a 14-to-nothing lead. The Chiefs scored before halftime to make it 14-to-7, but that wasn’t going to be enough. Not on this day. The play that was called back at the end of the game made Patrick Mahomes go off (0:10).

Mahomes looked like he was trying to get at the referees when the game ended because he wanted an explanation. Here what Adam Teicher said about the issue:

He said he got none. “They’re human. They

Then Teicher posted this:

Teicher is of course talking about five years ago when DE/LB Dee Ford lined up offsides — on defense — negating an interception by Charvarius Ward which would have essentially ending the game for K.C.. Instead, the penalty was inforced and the Patriots went on to win the AFC Championship and ultimately Super Bowl LIII against the Rams, 13-to-3. That was also the year PMII won his first of two regular season MVP Awards.

Here’s the play that didn’t count in which Travis Kelce caught the ball down field then threw it to Kadarius Toney who ran it in a a TD.

Here’s a comparison of the two QBs, Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes:

It looks like Mahomes and Allen are fairly evenly comparable, except Allen was sacked more times and that’s an indication he had more pressure placed on him.

While the defense for K.C. started out looking like someone stole their lunch, they made the necessary changes at Halftime and only allowed only 6 points in the second half of play.

NFL Memes has a very convincing case to make for a penalty that could have been called on Von Miller for the same offense:

The games are not won or lost based on bad calls by the referees, most of the time. However, it does seem like a pattern, and the league should take a look.

Travis Kelce had 83 yards receiving. The play that was called back would have given him 28 more yards if the penalty had not been called on Toney. Which means… Kelce would have topped 100 yards in this game. In any event, he only needs 104 more yards in the next four games to reach the 1,000 yards mark for the season. Either way, Kelce was a huge part of this game and he deserves the game ball. His girlfriend, Taylor Swift, was at the game and there Arrowhead winning streak was snapped. Maybe we should just place Travis Kelce’s name on this trophy permanently since this is not the first tiiem he’s won it this season. We could call it the Travis Kelce Award.

Who knows if this loss will fuel the fire inside of Patrick Mahomes, enough for this team to run the table… but it sure can’t hurt. Next up are the New England Patriots in Foxborough. Remember this one has been re-scheduled to Sunday at noon.
