Chiefs Fans Set Another World Record at Arrowhead

During a September 2014 match between Kansas City and New England, the Chiefs’ fans broke the Guinness World Record for Loudest Crowd Roar at a Sports Stadium. That record had been contested over the prior year by several stadiums before the Arrowhead faithful quit playing around and broke the record by a convincing +4.6 decibels. That record is still standing with no real competitor in sight.

In case you forget (or are somehow unaware of it), here are a couple reminders.

No One Hit Wonders

Since we weren’t getting any further competition in that area, Team Arrowhead decided they needed to set another record, KC style. And what category would fit Arrowhead and Kansas City the best? How about barbecue and grilling?

On April 27th, Smithfield Foods brought world champion postmaster Chris Lilly, Weber drillmaster Kevin Kolman, and KC Chiefs’ Defensive End Chris Jones, to Arrowhead to lead a crowd of barbecue/grilling aficionados in a lesson on cooking ribs and pork chops on a charcoal grill.

In order to be eligible for the record, there must be at least 250 participants, using the same equipment and ingredients, at the same venue, for a minimum of 30 minutes. At the end of the lesson, Guinness representatives quiz the participants to see if they learned something in the lesson.

If you haven’t guessed it already, Team Arrowhead brought another world record to town and didn’t just squeak in either. There were 336 participants, far surpassing the minimum of +250.

I am sure that if any other fanbase wants to challenge us for this record, we will be able to fill the parking lot and get that number into the 10s of thousands.

Were any of you guys out there grilling for the record?

And that’s The Rub!
