The Kansas City Chiefs set a record with their 16th AFC West Division win — 25-to-17 — when all other teams in their division have 15 titles. Its was also their 8th consecutive AFC West title. I call this the “Butker Game” because although K.C. was losing at halftime by a score of 17-to-13, kicker Harrison Butker kicked 6 Field Goals to make this win a possibility.

While I am not a fan of Field Goals and think they also represent missed opportunities in the Red Zone — opportunities for TDs — in this case, it was Butker’s accuracy that won the day.

Game Calls
The Chiefs played another game that looked a lot like all their other games this season –> not impressive offensively but good enough defensively. K.C. scored 25 points in this game while averaging 22.2 to rank 11th in the league. On defense, K.C. has allowed 17.7 points per game and in this contest gave up exactly 17 points. K.C. has ranked second in the league in this category. In fact, the Chiefs defense didn’t give up a score in the second half. At all. So, while the D allowed the Bengals to lead by the halftime, the offense didn’t do much to offset their own inadequacies. However, by games end, it all worked out (0:13).

The Bengals #1 WR, Ja’Marr Chase said this week about the Chiefs group of CBs: that they were “non superstars he wasn’t worried about.” However, he ended up with only 3 catches and 41 total yards. So, he loses in a couple of ways.
Chiefs rookie WR, Rashee Rice, also had a good game and contributed 127 yards receiving on 5 catches. That was over 25 yards per reception on average. He now need 62 more yards in his last game to reach the 1,000 yard barrier (0:46).

Players of the Game
Isiah Pacheco and Harrison Butker
Running back Isiah Pacheco had 130 yard rushing on 18 carries for a 7.2 YPC average. Pop, as he is called by his team mates, now needs just 65 yards in his last game to surpass the 1,00 yard mark. He also had 7 receptions for 35 yards in this game and a TD (0:36).

Harrison Butker also made Six (6) Field Goals to ice this game.

Quote of the Game
Announcer Tony Romo said in a post game interview:
.
“[The Chiefs] have been pushing the ball downfield vertically [in this game] and that pushes teams back. You don’t want to double-team Kelce consistently, at least when they’re taking those shots [and] they need to keep doing that. I think today was big for them because I think that helped a lot.”
