First Day Quotes, Notes and Gloats

WR Mike Williams also made a nice catch in the red zone. Good to see him on the field after missing OTAs and minicamp w/ hamstring injury.

 

“This is an offense that he can be very effective in.” ~ Andy Reid on WR Mike Williams

 

“I think I might be better.” Williams, who stressed he doesn’t want to seem overconfident, likes where he’s at compared to early in career.

 

“We’re excited about him. The more reps he gets the better he is.” ~Andy Reid on rookie QB Kevin Hogan.

 

Phillip Gaines said there’s no pain in his knee anymore, but it’s just about getting the stiffness out.

 

Jamaal Charles was placed on the PUP list.

 

“He’s on track.” – Andy Reid on Jamaal Charles. Said it’s not a setback (PUP list) but they’re just being careful.

 

Phillip Gaines was on the field for the start of 7-on-7 drills. Moved well. Probably the most significant individual story of the day.

 

Rookie defensive back Eric Murray had a couple of nice pass breakups today….

Two straight days w/ players at #Chiefs camp and a name continues to come up: WR Tyreek Hill. Players uniform in raving about Hill’s speed.

 

Chiefs CB Phillip Gaines said he has confidence in his knee following the ACL rehab, adds he’s close to 100 percent.

Andy Reid said Gaines will have first crack at the #2 position.

 

Gaines said he has full confidence in his knee.

 

Chiefs WR Mike Williams feels primed for a redemptive year.

 

Williams stood out for the Bucs from 2010 to 2012.

 

Now healthy after a hamstring injury, Williams is more focused.

Adam Teicher

 

No. 15 is wide receiver Mike Williams… practiced this morning as the Chiefs began a three-day minicamp for rookies, quarterbacks and selected injured veterans. Williams, signed by the Chiefs in the offseason, hadn’t practiced with his new team because of a hamstring injury. Williams, who caught 193 passes and scored 23 touchdowns for the Bucs from 2010 through 2012, is trying to resurrect his career.

Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro safety Eric Berry is expected to miss most, if not all, of the preseason, sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

This isn’t negotiating ploy by Berry.Nothing to negotiate. He either takes the Chiefs’ one-year offer and plays or doesn’t take it and sits

 

Teicher was asked: “does he still get the 11+ million dollars if he sits?”

 

Teicher: “No.”

 

I agree with those thinking Berry will sign at some point. But dangerous to think he will do that because Bowe did that a few years ago.
