The Many Names For Patrick Mahomes

You can’t imagine, well maybe you can, all the different names being slung around these days when talking about Patrick Mahomes. It’s actually an abuse of aliases when it comes to calling a game with Patrick Mahomes in it. When it comes to analysts chatting it up between game times about our QB — who we’ve all come to adore in Chiefs Kingdom — it’s been a creative cross-section filled with crazy takes, countless corollaries or even pointed cruelty and credulity. Such as…
… Marcus Spears, longtime defensive end of the Cowboys, and now an analyst for ESPN, has called Mahomes a Monster. Funny that Spears nickname is Swagu (Spears is on ESPN morning shows Get Up!, First Take, as well as NFL Live).

While Monster if just one of a multitude of Mahomes names, many have come to know him as “Magic.” Like Charles Goldman at Yahoo Sports. NFL Films has said that on one of Mahomes throws, “That’s something you do on Madden” a video game. So, we can count that as one of Mahomes many names.
Sometimes, some analysts call Mahomes = LeBron James. Like Dan Orlovski. Clark Hunt once said:

“It took Michael [Jordan] a few years before he won his first championship and Patrick, in year one, had us on the cusp of making the Super Bowl. We’re just blessed to have him and it’s gonna be a fun 10-plus year career for Patrick in Kansas City.”
Of course, many other have compared Mahomes to Jordan, but some like Steven A. Smith say, no. We also know Patrick Mahomes has likened himself to Steph Curry and this week, Curry called Mahomes “Crazy”, well, sorta.

The Kansas City Chiefs organization has published a video calling Mahomes: Showtime. That featured Chiefs radio voice, Mitch Holthus.

Of course, we should not leave out the six words Tom (the so-called GOAT) Brady said to Mahomes after their game on Sunday night: “You look great, keep it up.”

Young GOAT is relatively new term. Over the past ten or so years, the term GOAT — Greatest Of All Time — has been thrown around and associated with Tom Brady. While I admit he has a little bit of a claim to that crown and label, I in no way will acquiesce or admit that Brady is 100% that guy. With Joe Montana still alive and holding a much better overall percentage of Super Bowls won, once he gets there, I’ll go with him. That is until Mahomes wins his 5th, or so, ring.
Even before the season began, BJ Kissel and The Athletics’s Nate Taylor were calling Mahomes: Still the Best, in the NFL. Last offseason, right after Mahomes brought him a victory after falling behind with only 13 seconds left on the click, many were calling him The Grim Reaper.
I’ve also heard Patrick called: “Sherlock Mahomes.“
FanDuel.com (I’ll be perfectly clear, I don’t condone betting)has an article called, “5 Best Patrick Mahomes Nicknames That Could Catch On” in which they offer these five possible name: Patomic Bomb, Post Mahomes, Kermit, 2 P.M., Showtime. Yes, Showtime has already been mentioned, but it doesn’t hurt to throw it back out there. The Kermit name is because of his squeaky voice, and the 2 P.M. name has to do with, that’s when he often wakes up to take control of a game… and, it represents his name. That may be why some teammates still call him that.
Yahoo Fantasy Sports has called, Patrick Mahomes, “Unreal.”

“Batman Left Handed” can be attributed to either Tony Romo or Jim Nance.. but it’s because of Mahomes left handed toss to Tyreek Hill in Denver in 2018 and Hill took that pass up and out of bounds for a first down.

Oh yea, don’t forget that Steph called Mahomes throw “Crazy.” I’m sure many other have called Patrick Mahomes unreal as well. In fact, the more I research the subject, the more names I find. These however, look like the top 14 or so to me. At this point, I’m counting our Blessings (like Clark Hunt) and PM is one of them. So, I guess you could say… I call him a Blessing.
