Top 10 Mahomes WOW Moments, That We Have NOT Seen, Yet

Top 10 Mahomes WOW Moments, That We Have NOT Seen, Yet – Yes, we have seen many WOW moments from our quarterback sensation. It happens every single week, and sometimes multiple times in a game during the season. Entirely too many to mention in a single paragraph. We all know them by heart now and seen the replays many times. Some have even played them back in our daydreams, and we’ve all enjoyed the special memory WOW plays, which has brought good rewards to the team as a whole. Rewards as in… regular season wins, playoff wins, and yes, a Super Bowl Championship. Even WOW moments in the losses still have special meaning, but it’s now time to put the past behind us, and look to the future.

Top 10 WOW Moments by Patrick Mahomes…

Yet to Happen

We know that they will continue to happen… not if… but when. What is there left that the K.C. Chiefs franchise QB has not done is probably a shorter list than what he has done. So let’s get on with predicting what they will be.

Throws a Behind the Back Pass

We have already seen him practicing it, so we know that he can do it. Maybe it will be just a short gain, or maybe a 1st down, or most excitedly, a Touchdown. Whichever way it does happens… I’m sure that it will eventually happen.

Some see him as a gimmick player, which is not the truth. He only does these non-typical passes or plays, when the situation makes it where nothing else can be done to move the ball, and to get 1st downs. The left handed pass against Denver being the perfect example.

Left Handed Pass for a Touchdown

We have already seen version #1, but now we must see it done in the Touchdown form. I’m positive that we will see more than one left handed pass from Mahomes the rest of his career.

Improvisation is one reason that makes Mahomes special, and unlike any other player in the league, he practices at improvising. He practices at it because he knows that the defenses have no way of knowing how to… and no ability to… stop it.

Improvising definition: create and perform spontaneously or without preparation; produce or make (something) from whatever is available.

So how can you stop something that you dont know ahead of time that is going to happen?

No Look Pass for a Touchdown

The Red Zone (20 yards or less) should be the perfect place and time for the No Look Pass to work. In such close quarters, and with the boundaries to their backs, DBs can keep their eyes on the QB… and that is when they normally let their guard down: when they think he’s looking and throwing elsewhere.

We know that he’s already thrown the No Look Pass multiple times during the season, just not for a Touchdown yet. We already know that he practices it more than anyone else in the league. It even works against his own defensive teammates. Actually no one else practices it, because the QB has forever been taught to look the pass into the hands of the receiver. I think that perception will change as Mahomes continues to have success with it.

Catch a Pass for a Touchdown

No we have yet to see him catch a pass, and no Andy Reid would not put him in harm’s way. However, what if, on a trick play, or gadget play, he was left all alone unguarded in the end zone. Example being a diversion from Shift the Rose Bowl Right Parade 1948 (seen below) only this time, with Mahomes on a wheel route.

With the new $503 Million dollar contract, we will probably never see Mahomes put at risk. On the other hand… wide open in end zone… would not be placing him at risk. We’ve seen videos of him running and catching passes, so, while this category is not likely, it’s not impossible.

Throw a Pass while horizontal to the ground as he’s falling or being sacked

We have seen Patrick throw from many different positions and angles, but we have never seen him throw while flying sideways. I can imagine, in my mind, the highlight picture or even video of him diving sideways to avoid being hit, but throwing a pass just before hitting the ground. It must be for a completion to count. A first down or a touchdown would be a nice bonus.

I don’t believe anyone has ever thrown a pass from that position before, but it would not be the first time Pat has done something that no one else has… as we all know. That’s what would make it a WOW moment. It’s the only feasible position that he has not thrown a pass from.

Throw a pass 70+ yards

According to the Rochester Journal, in 1935, Chicago Bears quarterback Fred Crawford tossed an 85-yard bomb to receiver Eddie Kawal, and this appears to be the longest through-the-air pass on record. In the 1960s, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Don Meredith once let one fly to Bob Hays for 83 yards, putting him in second place. We seen Mahomes throw a pass 69 yards to Tyreek Hill in a preseason game against Atlanta. Now we want to see 70+.

We have seen him throw the football out of Arrowhead stadium. During his Pro Day at Texas Tech, he threw 80 yards. During an interview on Pardon My Take, last year (by the Kansas City Star’s Pete Grathoff), the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback said he believes he could launch the pigskin 100 yards at Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca. Mahomes defended his assertion by citing Mexico City’s altitude. He said he can reach around 80 or 83 yards in Denver, which is 5,280 feet above sea level. Mexico City rises to roughly 7,350 feet above sea level, so a football should travel even farther in the thinner air.

Throw a pass while backwards

It’s highly unlikely and even unthinkable, but to throw and complete a pass while your back is to the original line of scrimmage sounds like another Mahomes WOW moment in waiting. Again, it would be reliant on Mahomes improvisation talents. Most likely be last play near end of half, or end of game. Last hope to make something happen to tie or win the game.

Blind pass for a gain would be a WOW moment out of this World. Crazy? Yes! Impossible? No! Am I nuts for thinking this way? No, I just needed a category.

Mastering All Aspects of QB Play

Yes it’s hard to fathom after the two full years as a starter that he’s had — 50 TD in 1 year; 5000 yds passing; season MVP; 4-1 in playoffs, winning a Super Bowl, and MVP of same Super Bowl (I never get tired of hearing it) — that he needs to improve. That is the WOW moment though: scary thought that he has not yet reached the peak of where he could be. No one who has any educated knowledge of football denies that he can and will get better.

He himself admits that he self evaluates his own play, and is critical of himself. He has top notch QB coach in Mike Kafka, a top notch OC in Eric Bieniemy, and the Best Head Coach with Andy Reid. All four communicate very well with each other and through film study and game experience, he will improve. I’m no QB expert, but I do trust that he’ll strive 100% to get better in all aspects of his play, including: Leadership Qualities and Team Chemistry.

Setting New Quarterback Records

This was going to be his contract prediction, but Monday’s news took care of that, and look at the numbers! WOW!

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is 9d.jpg

Patrick already has 27 NFL records. Tom Brady has 54, but is still breaking and setting new records. With today’s new passing schemes, I think new categories for records are being created. I project that by the end of Patrick’s career he’ll hold more records than anyone else in history. The numbers will be outlandish. If he plays until he’s 40, we’ll look back on his career accomplishments and say… WOW!

Accomplish Something No One Else Has Ever Done

This is my favorite category. What is there that he is set up to do that no one else has done.
Win 3 Super Bowls in a Row?

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is 9d.jpg

Not since the Super Bowl era has begun has a team won more than 2 in a row. Because of the salary cap effect it has become difficult to win back-to-back. It has not happened since 2005. Only 3 times has a team made it to the SB 3 years in a row. Buffalo made it to 4 straight… but came out 0-4. Never has a team three-peated.

So, to avoid all arguments of Greatest of All Time QBs… let’s see a K.C. Chiefs three-peat in the next 15 years. As in my previous article “Recipe of an NFL Dynasty” the new PM contract shows that front office is doing as needed. So this year’s team is set to win multiple championships.

Mahomes Bonus WOW!

We might as well throw in a 19-0 Undefeated Season into this category, huh?
