Chiefs: Sit Em or Play Em

Laddie Morse

When the Kansas City Chiefs play the Los Angeles Chargers this Sunday at 3:25 in L.A., they will not be playing with a full compliment of starters. In fact, it may seem more like a preseason game with the number of backups trying out or getting a performance on tape. One intriguing aspect of this game will be the players who will be in the game. Players like WR Justin Ross. He’s had an up and down season, off the field, and this will be a good opportunity to re-kindle some of the Kingdom enthusiasm generated back in St. Joe for the player. Let’s take a look at the starters and do a “SIT EM” or “PLAY EM” kinda thingy.

He’s already been benched for this game and backup Blaine Gabbert has made his presence knwn as this week’s starter.

At Running Back, Isiah Pacheco is anticipating sitting. We all are expecting him to sit. He didn’t practice on Wednesday with both a Quad and a Shoulder flair up. Anything, any reason, to sit a guy at this stage… and he’s benched.

Kelce had a light practice on Wed. because of a neck issue. However, since he only needs 16 yards to reach 1,000 for the 8th straight year in a row, I’d let him start the game and target him plenty on the first series of downs. Then… SIT EM!

Rice needs 62 yards to reach 1,000 for his rookie season. Too bad, SIT EM!

Who cares… SIT EM or PLAY EM, either way, I don’t care, really. I. Don’t. Care.

Becasue this game will be like a tryout for some player, and because I think KT is one of those players… I say Play EM.

Chris Jones needs a half a sack to reach his incentive goal. Jordan Foote wrote a piece for the SI.com called: “The Deal Chris Jones Made With the KC Chiefs Is Only Partially Paying Off” in which he says:

I say… PLAY EM… then quickly SIT EM… before he gets hurt. Please

Sneed sat out practice on Wednesday with what was called a “calf” injury. Whether he actually has one or not… I say SIT EM. Protect him for the important games: the playoffs!

Bolton had a full practice on Wed. even though he is said to have been dealign with a Wrist and Abdomen problems. I say, SIT EM. He’s too important to the defense to be playing around with his health.

So many on the Chiefs roster need to be benched for this unimportant game. So what if the Chiefs lose to the Los Angeles Chargers? So what I say!
