Recognize and Respect: 1st Half Report

Recognize and Respect: 1st Half Report – As I write this, it’s half-time.  The score is Packers 20 and Chiefs 10. This is not the score that you or I want, but it’s our reality. We must realize, myself mostly, that preseason is not a harbinger of the season to come.  Rather it is an opportunity for our coaches, in whom we trust, to make the hard decisions that they must.

While, as a Chiefs fan, there is no happiness with the halftime score, we can find solace in our unhappiness that pretty much 50 percent of these guys will not be Chiefs in a week or two.

If tonight’s game disappointed you, let’s find a reason not to be such. Actually, let’s find ten reasons.

  • 1. Patrick Mahomes
  • 2. Travis Kelce
  • 3. Andy Reid
  • 4. Tyrann Mathieu
  • 5.  Darwin Thomas
  • 5. Tyreek Hill
  • 7.  Frank Clark
  • 8. Mecole Hardman
  • 9. Dustin Colquitt
  • 10.  Chris Jones

The real Chiefs team warmed the bench this game.  From MVP Patrick Mahomes to out-of-nowhere sensation Darwin Thompson, they merely were there to support those few who still those few who will still claim the Red, White, and Gold as their own after tonight’s game.

Marcus Claiborne most definitely is on the roster with his play in the first half, as well as a few others.

I’ll write again in September. I’ll write about (I hope) touchdowns made, passes caught, and sacks galore.

Until then, dear reader, enjoy life, enjoy being a Chiefs fan, and enjoy the fact that finally, as a longtime Chiefs fan, you are the envy of every NFL fan right now.

Please realize that Andy and his gang are just waiting for the NFL to start in September.  Better yet, recognize and respect that Andy and his gang are going to make the NFL happen this year.
